Position: Financial Analyst - Corporate Finance and Control

Employment Type: Permanent

Compensation Details

  • Acct. & Financial Analysis 15: Salaries typically range from $63,894 to $85,194 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
  • Acct. & Financial Analysis 16: Salaries typically range from $72,840 to $97,121 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
  • Acct. & Financial Analysis 17: Salaries typically range from $83,037 to $110,717 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Toronto, Montreal, or Vancouver.
  • Relocation assistance is available for candidates who meet the eligibility criteria.

Team Overview

  • Corporate Finance and Control is a collaborative group that provides financial planning, complex financial analysis, reporting under IFRS, taxation compliance and business reporting for EDC. Our group is hiring new members to help us meet the needs of our internal customers and is looking for innovative people interested in changing the status quo for the betterment of this growing and evolving organization.
  • As the newest addition to our team, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to combine their solid accounting skills with a big picture understanding of business results and the related drivers in order to provide value-added and timely insights to our customers. This includes accessing and combining information from multiple information systems to analyze financial results, developing and improving internal and external reports, and implementing continuous improvements.

  • We are currently seeking an individual for the following discipline:
    • Internal control over financial reporting
What You Will Be Doing

  • Identifies and assesses key risks and controls related to financial reporting, including business processes that lead to transactions recorded in the general ledger, to ensure that financial statements are free from material misstatement.
  • Participates in walkthroughs and control testing activities, including the identification and communication of control deficiencies.
  • Maintains clear documentation of control processes, design effectiveness of controls and control testing.
  • Review and analyze results from business units with a critical eye and a willingness to question processes as needed.
  • Collaborates with groups across the corporation to leverage process and control information already established.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of remediation plans for control weaknesses and monitors progress toward resolution.
  • Contributes to the continuous improvement of internal control frameworks and supports initiatives to enhance control awareness across the organization.

What We Are Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, accounting, finance, commerce or other relevant discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation such as CPA or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in business, auditing, accounting and/or financial analysis.
  • Advanced knowledge of IFRS, accounting and financial analysis principles and practices.
  • Excellent MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint capabilities and strong ability to work with complex databases.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
  • Experience with reviewing internal controls over financial reporting
