About The Role
The Alternatives Product Marketer is a key member of the Alternatives Marketing team and will be responsible for:
- raising awareness about our alternative investments platform, capabilities and people
- actively partnering with investment teams throughout fund life cycles
- contributing to development of strategic communications, campaigns, fund collateral, social media and thought leadership
This professional will serve as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for select alternative investment teams, partnering with Sales, Product Development, Alternatives Channel Marketing, Corporate Communications, Editorial, Digital and Creative. The position demands a unique combination of strategic marketing, content creation and project management skills. Knowledge of alternatives—hedge funds and real assets, in particular—is required. Familiarity with financial marketing rules and requirements for alternative investments is also desirable.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assume a leadership role in the conceptualization, development and maintenance of product pitchbooks, fact cards, brochures, white papers, web pages and social media content.
- Work side-by-side with senior members of the corporate communications, events. investment, distribution and channel marketing teams to formulate and communicate the unique value proposition and competitive advantages of the investment teams and their associated offerings in a consistent, commercially effective manner.
- Ensure that all marketing materials are up to date and compliance approved for use in the appropriate channels.
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required. MBA, CFA or CAIA desirable.
- Ability to thrive within a collaborative, time-bound and team-oriented environment
- Entrepreneurial attitude; willingness to take the initiative and identify creative ways to drive the marketing agenda forward
- Outstanding writing and editing skills
- Excellent project and time management skills
- Ability to communicate complex investment concepts and processes to external and internal audiences with varying levels of familiarity with alternative investments
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop effective working relationships with key stakeholders throughout Morgan Stanley Investment Management and Morgan Stanley.
- Ability to think strategically and problem-solve about product and strategy-specific messaging across the full spectrum of internal and external stakeholders
- A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and deliver high quality work under tight deadlines

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
