This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for NYC Transportation Project Operations Lead to join our group in New York City, NY.

The New York City office has a large and dynamic project portfolio, and a range of demanding transportation clients. The volume and complexity of work in our NYC office requires full-time effort from a skilled and strategic thinker to driving project performance across the portfolio.

The NYC Project Operations Lead will oversee our portfolio of NYC Transportation projects and will drive quality, timeliness, and enhanced financial performance, in collaboration with our Project Managers, Financial, Operations, and Business Line Leaders.

The Project Operations Lead will help the NYC Local Business Lead develop plans to meet strategic business goals, identify and manage project risks, and coordinate a bench of Project Delivery Managers (PDMs) who will assist with daily support of our Project Managers.

Your Impact

  • Project Operations:
    • Ensure that Project Managers (PMs) and PDMs are following our Project Delivery Policies and the procedures in our Project Execution Manual (PEM)
    • Achieve consistency in rigor of project kickoff meetings and ongoing risk management
    • Participation in project reviews
    • Developing/maintaining Risk and Opportunity logs; driving mitigations with PMs and PDMs
    • Developing monthly portfolio performance reports
    • Enhance project margin, quality, and overall delivery performance
  • PM Mentoring:
    • Mentor existing PMs
    • Identify and mentor next generation PM candidates
  • Driving Technical Innovation:
    • Drive progressive Alternative Technical Concept (ATC) development
  • Driving Digital Innovation:
    • Institutionalize the use of BIM throughout engineering staff
    • Drive more sophisticated uses of BIM to enhance design and construction of complex projects
    • Institutionalize the use of computer coding/programming to automate design and quality processes
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering
  • Proven project management and risk management expertise across a range of multidisciplinary project types and markets
  • Proven success in developing and implementing structure and culture for
    • Staff development
    • Standardization
    • Technical innovation
    • Project delivery excellence
    • Quality management
  • NY Professional Engineer Registration, willing to obtain PE registration in other states
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to foster a welcoming and nurturing environment for staff at all levels
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Able to work occasional overtime as required per project.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on client or project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
  • Experience serving as Chief Engineer for a public agency or AEC firm.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $250,000.00 - $315,000.00

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
