Job description

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Senior Manager of Major Gifts on behalf of our client, an impactful and leading nonprofit in conserving imperiled wild animals and their environments. Our client partners with scientific institutions, domestic and global NGOs, local communities, and global governments. Reporting to the Development Director, this role is perfect for a seasoned nonprofit development professional with tenure in securing6-, 7-, and 8-figure gifts. This role is 100% remote based in any metropolitan area on the West Coast.

A successful candidate will be a seasoned fundraiser with the experience needed to build a donor-centric giving program, including planned giving, major gifts, and mid-level giving. This 100% remote position will be based in a city on the West Coast, preferably Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle/Portland, or the East Coast, preferably NYC or DC, with expected donor-related or business travel as necessary (10%). **

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:**

  • Cultivate and drive a dynamic individual giving operation, including major and mid-level giving, to increase and maximize individual donations.
  • Improve sophistication and effectiveness of donor identification, qualification, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship within fundraising programs and donor journey across programs.
  • Manage an existing HNWI and donor leads portfolio, refining and improving our clients stewardship, qualification, and identification for the growing major gifts program.
  • Collaborate with the Development Director to develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising plans.
  • Work with communications staff to build donor-centric cultivation methods and deploy effective moves management strategies.
  • Partner with program staff to develop strong relationships and effective ways to communicate their work to donors and prospects.
  • Translate the influential work that our client does through compelling narratives and storytelling to support continuing donations and investments for our clients organization.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelors degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Seven (7)+ years of progressive fundraising experience in the conservation or environmental field, emphasizing management of major gifts, fundraising, and budget responsibilities.
  • Experience with development and fundraising at an international conservation or environmental nonprofit.
  • Hold a strong network across the US, preferably heavier on the West Coast.
  • Experience with international fundraising preferred.
  • Understanding and passion for this mission and ability to convey it in all aspects.
  • Strong experience in raising 6-, 7-, and 8-figure gifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long-term relationships.
  • Outstanding writing, planning, project management, interpersonal skills, judgment, and ability to collaborate with various stakeholders at local and global levels.
  • Tech savvy and experienced in Salesforce or other fundraising and donor databases, Word, and Excel.

TRAVEL:

This 100% remote position will be based in a city on the West Coast, preferably Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle/Portland, with expected donor-related or business travel as necessary (10%). **

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:**

In addition to a competitive base salary of $140K$160K (DOE), this incredible role provides a comprehensive full-time employee benefits package. **
