Your impact on the team

The Development and Engineering Lead - Oracle Product Hub Cloud at McGraw Hill leads a team of developers to deliver innovative enterprise technology solutions aligned with strategic business objectives. In collaboration with Solution Architects, you will manage the full software development lifecycle for applications within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) suite. Key responsibilities include producing detailed functional and technical specifications, managing the development process for various code objects, and ensuring efficient delivery of solutions to complex business challenges.

This is a remote position open to applicants currently authorized to work for any employer within Canada. Preference will be given to those residing in Ontario.

What you will be doing:

  • Primarily support a variety of applications enabling Product Lifecycle Management business processes and functions, including Oracle Product Hub Cloud (MDM and catalog application), custom Global Permissions, custom Prepublication, and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf Royalty processing.
  • Translate business requirements into technical designs using existing solutions and ensure alignment with Application, SaaS, and PaaS technology stacks.
  • Plan and implement the technical roadmap for enterprise application integration and service activation based on business needs.
  • Lead and manage development resources (internal and external), while mentoring junior engineers and driving an agile SDLC to meet business goals.
  • Create, review, and document technical designs and code, ensuring alignment with test scripts, testing plans, and acceptance criteria.
  • Coordinate cross-departmental efforts and collaborate with centralized functions (e.g., Infrastructure, Network Ops, QA) to ensure solution compatibility and scalability.
  • Conduct proofs of concept and evaluate infrastructure for solution implementation.
  • Participate in system requirements definition, training, and support to ensure successful deployment and use.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Minimum 6-8 yrs of experience developing Enterprise Business Systems solutions (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Salesforce.com or equivalent), preferably in large global organizations.
  • Hands-on experience developing with Oracle SaaS technologies, including Oracle Product Hub Cloud and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
  • Experience with programming languages such as PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, HTML5, Spring, and C# in a custom development environment.
  • Experience with multiple database technologies such as SQL Server and/or Oracle in a custom development environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Data architecture and enterprise data modelling.
  • Hands-on proficiency in programming languages within a custom development environment, including:
    • Application architectures such as J2EE or .NET
    • Web application server technologies like Apache Tomcat and Apache Solr
    • Integration technologies including Informatica ETL, SOA services, and REST.
  • Extensive experience working in hybrid Custom and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) development environment is desirable.
  • Experience leading and managing hybrid onshore and offshore development/support teams.
  • Degree in Management Information Systems / Computer Science (or equivalent), MBA is desirable.

Bonus if you have:

  • Technical application certifications such TOGAF and PMP.
  • Prior Tier 1 Consulting experience.
  • Prior experience with Product Lifecycle Management applications enabling the Concept to Launch (or Product Ideation) process.
  • Background in the Publishing or Media & Entertainment industry (or similar).
