This role is an Australia-based, fully work-from-home position, with access to co-working spaces in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Job Description

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the PR and media relations strategy for the B2B side of the Montu organisation, to build the reputation of Leafio and Montu, and ensure effective media coverage and inter-industry stakeholder relations.

The PR Manager manages the creation and dissemination of media releases, assists coordination and execution of aligned external channel content (such as via social media and website updates), develops key stakeholder relationships with journalists and key influencers and seeks high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media. 

Strategy and reporting

  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of media-based communications strategies for Leafio and the B2B side of the business, in line with broader PR strategy and business objectives
  • Assist in the research and development of quarterly media relations planning, including development of KPIs to feed into both team and departmental OKRs
  • Contribute to PR strategic planning, feeding into organisational values and objectives
  • Produce regular media placement reports and related analysis for reach, sentiment, and other metrics
  • Ideate and implement both media and non-media PR initiatives that feed into high-level objectives
  • Utilise our media monitoring and reporting platform to track and measure success, generate impact reports, and benchmark quarterly metrics.

Media pitching and placement

  • Understand the complexities of the brands and competitive positioning and opportunities, so as to be able to develop narrative angles, create press releases and craft tailored pitches for relevant media partners
  • Identify opportunities to proactively and reactively pitch relevant stories for Leafio and the Montu B2B businesses, focusing on CSR and/or commercial opportunities 

Develop and maintain target media lists

  • Manage pitching follow-through to obtain brand stories’ placement with key media outlets across both print and broadcast
  • Take charge of contributor stories - including developing target publication lists and content development through to publication
  • Adhere to approvals processes, and suggest refinements as required under each brand
  • Proactively manage both visibility opportunities and risk.

Stakeholder relations

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key media contacts across top and middle tier publications as relevant for brand outcomes
  • Manage day-to-day media requests, queries, and communications to maintain cooperative relationships with media partners
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Brand PR programs (such as press kits) to support stakeholder relations initiatives
  • Develop and maintain digital media kit, and the corporate website media page in line with outreach and up-to-date news efforts
  • Assist with rollout of Ambassador framework, including maximising media opportunities generated by brand ambassadors, and working closely with the Partnerships Specialist to align with broader objectives
  • Help drive PR-relevant events, associated tasks and projects

Quality Control

  • Seek feedback and adhere to approvals processes on external communications to ensure they meet brand standards and align with intersecting briefs
  • Iterate all work based on input to enhance quality and effectiveness
  • Ensure all outputs effectively convey the organisation's values and voice
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and other innovations to maintain currency and relevance of external messaging and outreach.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field
  •  8+ years of relevant experience in a similar role within PR/media relations - ideally within a regulated environment 
  • Solid strategic capability as well as the ability to implement and execute
  • Experience with tools for monitoring and reporting on earned media placement Experience and working knowledge of brand identity, aesthetics, and messaging
  • Current working knowledge of media relations and PR best practices
  • Strong project management skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams to meet deadlines
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms
  • Experience working in a multi-brand environment desirable
