Position Summary
The Katz School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Part-Time ESL Tutor to join our team. This remote position is designed to assist graduate-level ESL (English as a Second Language) students in enhancing their English language skills. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ESL education, exceptional teaching skills, and a passion for helping students improve their English proficiency in writing, reading, speaking, and listening.
Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to graduate-level ESL students focusing on English writing, reading, speaking, and listening skills.
- Offer feedback on grammar, syntax, structure, and clarity to improve students English writing skills.
- Assist students in developing effective language learning strategies and understanding English language conventions.
- Help students with the revision and editing process, ensuring their work meets high academic standards.
- Develop customized lesson plans based on individual student needs and language proficiency levels.
- Maintain records of tutoring sessions and track students progress.
- Communicate effectively with students through various online platforms.
- Stay updated with current ESL teaching methods and practices.
- Guide students in developing critical thinking skills to enhance their academic performance.
- This is a part time position. Up to 19 hours a week. This is a remote position, but availability to visit our midtown campus is a strong plus (when needed but not required).
Qualifications
Experience Educational Background:
- Master’s degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
- ESL certification (e.g., TESOL, TEFL, CELTA) is required.
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching ESL students at the graduate level.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of academic writing styles, including APA, MLA, and Chicago.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching methods to individual student needs.
- Proficient in using online communication tools and learning management systems.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Skills Competencies
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching ESL students at the graduate level.

Salary Range
$25.00 - $50.00 per hour
