Partner Development Specialist Greater China

The World Economic Forum is an international organization that brings together leaders from business, government, academia, and civil society to build industry, regional and global agendas, address systemic issues, and improve the state of the world.

As a membership organization, the Forum engages businesses to address industry, regional and systemic issues.

The Partner Development function is responsible for establishing new partnerships with corporations from various industries and sizes.

Reporting lines and interactions:

Internally, this person will work with colleagues from all regions, industries, thematic centres, and externally as the first line of partner development efforts.

The Partner Development Specialist will report to the Head of the Business Engagement, Greater China. She/he will focus on researching, cultivating and closing partnership from several key industries including financial services, health and healthcare, professional services and education.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and grow Forum’s partnership community in the assigned industries in China
  • Research, analyse, and understand the priorities of potential partners, initiate outreach campaigns, and develop compelling value propositions.
  • Act as sales support for the Head of Business Engagement to maintain Forum’s CRM database on Partner development activities.
  • Provide necessary administrative support across the sales cycle, with the preparation of key documents for meetings, securing both in person or virtual meeting with the key decision makers, follow ups, and contract-closing.
  • Act as a liaison with the WEF thematic Centres to help strengthen the value proposition and offering for new partners, as well as ensure coordinated outreach campaigns for their initiatives.

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Working alongside the Head of Business Engagement and the business engagement team to reach out to companies and develop a strong pipeline for new partnerships.
  • Contributing to overall team sales performance and OKRs.
  • Keeping CRM database updated to support pipeline development progress.
  • Successfully managing competing priorities to deliver to the highest standards and to agreed deadlines.
  • Delivering on institutionally critical campaigns and maximising response rates.
  • Successfully building trusted relationships with internal stakeholders and thereby leveraging their networks and expertise for the partner development cycle.

Preferred requirements and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Marketing or other relevant field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in business development, consultative sales or client success role, preferably from the business to business (B2B) professional service industry such as financial services, risk consultancy, management consulting.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and ability to develop successful outreach campaigns, using the most relevant business intelligence.
  • High-level of cultural awareness, analytical and organizational skills with intellectual rigour. 
  • Excellent listening skills, professional judgement, and ability to adapt partner engagement approaches as needed.
  • Agile team player who enjoys working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and rapidly evolving environment.
