Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Corporate Affairs, focusing on Government Affairs and Patient Advocacy, will play a crucial role in advancing the company's public policy objectives, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and advocating for policies that support patient access to our therapies. This position will require strategic thinking, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of the healthcare landscape in Germany.

Key responsibilities:

Government Affairs:

  • Helps develop and implement government affairs strategies to influence healthcare policy in alignment with the company's objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments at the local, national, and international levels.
  • Advocate for policies that enhance patient access to treatments and support innovation in the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to assess the impact of proposed legislation and regulations on the company’s operations and strategic goals.
  • Prepare position papers, policy briefs, and other materials to communicate the company’s positions to external stakeholders.

Patient Advocacy:

  • Assists in developing and executing patient advocacy strategies to support patients and caregivers in accessing and benefiting from our therapies.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with patient advocacy groups, nonprofit organizations, and other key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with patient advocacy organizations to understand patient needs and integrate their perspectives into the company’s policies and programs.
  • Represent the company at patient advocacy events, conferences, and meetings.
  • Ensure that patient advocacy initiatives align with the company’s mission and values.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal departments, including Clinical, Regulatory, Medical, Market Access, Legal, and Commercial teams, to align government affairs and patient advocacy strategies with business objectives.
  • Helps provide strategic advice and support to senior leadership on public policy and patient advocacy issues.
  • Coordinate with global corporate affairs teams to ensure a consistent approach to government affairs and patient advocacy across regions

Qualifications

  • University undergraduate degree in science or business as a minimum; higher qualifications (MD, PhD, MBA) advantageous.
  • Minimum of 6-8+years of experience in government affairs, public policy, patient advocacy, or a related field within the healthcare or biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven track record of assisting in development and execution of successful government affairs and patient advocacy strategies.
  • Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, including regulatory, legislative processes and market access.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to ethical conduct. Strong social skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and software.
  • Fluency in German and English.
