Job description

As an Accountant – Compensation & Benefits, you will have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, confidence collaborating cross-functionally across our growing, multi-national public company and will prepare accounting journals and reconciliations for compensation and benefits. This role will be a business partner and collaborator with Human Resources team and support future growth.

What you’ll do

  • Demonstrate knowledge of accounting for both domestic and international payroll with multiple currencies.
  • Ensure accurate recording of payroll transactions and proper reconciliation of payroll accounts, including routine and ad hoc payrolls.
  • Perform accounting processes, including posting journals and calculating accruals, for all forms of employee compensation, including salaries, bonuses, and related payroll taxes.
  • Perform accounting for employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
  • Prepare month-end ledger account reconciliations in compliance with SOX reporting.
  • Build positive relationships throughout the organization applying knowledge to day-to-day role, including working closely with Human Resources team to help with payroll processing and answering questions related to payroll accounting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and overall effectiveness of accounting processes for compensation and benefits.
  • Document new/updated processes and procedures as needed.
  • Assist with supporting documentation for compliance or tax audits.
  • Engage in continuous learning, staying current on system functionality and enhancements.

This might describe you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • Proven experience in industry is preferable.
  • Experience and familiarity with accounting standards regarding compensation and benefits in the United States, Canada, Europe and other foreign jurisdictions.
  • Public Company experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Workday, Adaptive, and FloQast/Blackline systems are preferable.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with various stakeholders.

Other things to note

  • This position can be worked as remote position within the United States.
  • Familiarity with public company requirements, including Sarbanes Oxley and key regulations, if applicable. For SOX compliant roles, responsible for designing, executing, and documenting internal controls where they have been identified as owners to prevent errors in financial reporting, processes, and business operations. Including attestation to the completeness, accuracy, and compliance of all financial reporting data, where applicable.
