Job description

At Skillshare, we are building a global community of curious, lifelong learners, and we are excited to welcome a Senior Product Manager to optimize and enhance our member product experiences. This role is perfect for a product leader who thrives on iterating on existing products, improving foundational features, and fusing them into compelling, cohesive packages that drive engagement and value across a two-sided marketplace.

You will play a key role in refining Skillshare's core experience, working cross-functionally to deliver iterative improvements that benefit both students and teachers. With a deep understanding of our users and a sharp eye for experimentation, you’ll lead efforts to fine-tune and connect features to increase adoption, retention, and satisfaction. You will lead user research and data insights to define and architect a clear vision for success, and expertly execute product delivery, using experimentation where possible to propel us forward. You will champion insights and seamlessly collaborate with content, community, operations, brand, and marketing departments, crafting best-in-class product experiences. At the heart of it all, you will embody a key influencer, inspiring our collective teams to deliver a robust, stable, and engaging experience.

What You'll Do
  • Drive Strategic Alignment: Partner closely with the Director of Product Operations to execute initiatives aligned with company OKRs and product strategies, focusing on enhancing the member product experience.
  • Enhance User Experience: Lead efforts to refine, connect, and improve existing features for a seamless, engaging experience that reduces friction and drives measurable improvements for both student and teacher communities.
  • Lead Agile Product Execution: Oversee an Agile team of engineers, a designer, and cross-functional partners, ensuring collaboration across departments and third-party vendors. Facilitate Agile ceremonies, manage sprints, with excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product design, engineering, data, community, content, finance, and marketing teams to drive customer value and business impact. Use qualitative and quantitative data, A/B testing, and customer insights to inform decisions and continuous improvements.
  • Product Roadmap Management: Develop and maintain a clear, prioritized roadmap aimed at improving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention. Clearly communicate the product vision and roadmap to leadership and key stakeholders.
  • System Health & Scalability: Advocate for the stability and scalability of core systems, ensuring foundational experiences and third-party integrations are reliable and ready for growth. Payment lifecycle management experience is a plus.
  • Project Execution & Delivery: Write detailed user stories, requirements, and specifications. Manage JIRA tickets, sprint planning, and project execution, ensuring effective data validation and feature rollouts. Design, run, and interpret experiments, including A/B tests, while defining clear product roll-out strategies.
  • Market Awareness & Innovation: Stay ahead of industry trends within the creator economy and online learning space. Continuously monitor competitors and identify innovation opportunities where Skillshare can innovate and pull ahead.

  • Why We're Excited About You
  • You have 5+ years of product management experience at a consumer brand owning a business-critical domain as a product manager, ideally with a focus on learning experiences, or content search and discovery.
  • You thrive on iteration: You’re passionate about improving existing products, refining core experiences, and connecting features into cohesive value propositions.
  • You have strong cross-functional communication skills; Ability to clearly articulate strategy, requirements, and high-level technical concepts to stakeholders, product designers, engineers, and business partners.
  • You have a proven ability to proactively lead teams and work cross-functionally with product, engineering, data, content, community, and marketing in a highly collaborative environment.
  • You are a creative problem solver with a comprehensive understanding of qualitative and quantitative research & analytical methods. You’re conducting user research sessions and analyzing product performance data and feedback to identify opportunities, test hypotheses, and drive results.
  • You are not afraid of diving into complex third party systems.  You welcome the challenge to level up and learn and stretch your skills.
  • You possess strong decision-making and prioritization skills, with extensive experience working with engineers while overseeing and managing fluid roadmaps.

  • Why You Are Excited About Us
  • Our team: We have a passionate, creative, and innovative team that is a lot of fun to work with.
  • Our mission: We’re doing work that matters – connecting lifelong learners around the world and empowering them to pursue their creativity.
  • Flexibility: We believe that doing your best work means living a full life. That means different things for everyone, so we optimize for trust, invest to support remote teams, offer home office stipends and co-working spaces in multiple cities, have an unlimited vacation policy (with a required minimum!), and encourage work-life balance.
  • Impact: You’ll be in a highly visible role responsible for business-critical initiatives while helping us improve the core experience for our students and teachers.
  • Your growth: You’ll have the opportunity to wear a lot of hats, collaborate with others, and take on more ownership over time.
  • Benefits: We believe that doing your best work means living a full life. We support our team with unlimited PTO, gender-neutral parental leave, anniversary sabbaticals, and healthy stipends for creativity, learning, and personal wellness.
  • The starting salary range varies, depending on experience and location. We also offer competitive equity and benefits packages. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all requirements - we're looking for quick learners who are excited about growing with us.
