Our Risk Solutions team is currently seeking a Marine Technical Director who will oversee the Marine lines of business for Risk Solutions. Position is eligible for a fully remote arrangement. This is a full time, exempt role.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This leader will oversee the Marine lines of business for Risk Solutions. The candidate will have 10+ years industry experience in the Risk Solutions field with strong technical knowledge of Inland and Ocean Marine including builder’s risk, contractor’s equipment, motor truck cargo, and other Marine coverages, maritime transit safety and security standards, and risk related to all transportation modes. The candidate will report to the AVP of Technical Solutions in Risk Solutions.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

Develop Risk Solutions strategy specific to Ocean Marine

Develop strategic and innovative initiatives to address the Marine lines of business profit improvement and quality

Collaborate with Industry Leadership, Corporate Line of Business Underwriting and Claims Team

Oversee development and maintenance of Risk Solutions external resources (agent and customer) including content on the Risk Solutions website, online tools, and 3rd party vendors

Develop action plans and survey solutions for emerging business unit trends

Collaborate with the Field Operations Leaders to ensure Risk Solutions field staff possess technical skillset necessary for risk assessment and service for the Marine lines of business

Oversee development and maintenance of Risk Solutions internal staff resources (i.e., training modules, owners’ manuals, and technical reference materials)

Assist Risk Solutions Field Directors in new and experienced field staff development and provides coaching/feedback through quality reviews.

Conduct regional evaluations for annual Operational Reviews and contribute to ongoing process improvement

Ability to travel periodically, less than 10% of the time

WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:

  • B.S. degree in a related field to include health and safety, science, engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years in insurance, technical and/or engineering related experience.
  • Professional loss control certification preferred to include CSP, PE, CPCU, ARM.
  • High level of skill and competency in Microsoft products such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Strong command of fundamental and advanced technical concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate difficult or technical decisions with confidence and precision.
  • Strong time management skills: must be able to effectively plan and organize work to achieve desired outcomes. Demonstrates flexibility in applying different approaches to changing work demands.
  • Motivated self-starter with demonstrated initiative; ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Ability to deal confidently with all levels of the organization, including senior executives in Home Office, field managers and field underwriters.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment on multiple projects, tasks or assignments.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to travel as necessary (up to 10% travel required).
  • Ability to climb a ladder at various heights.
  • Ability to work in cold and/or hot environments.
