Job description

Role: Staff Accountant

Compensation: $65,000 - $80,000 + Bonus

Location:
Remote - Must reside in the Chicago area

As a Staff Accountant, you will collaborate with the accounting team to prepare journal entries and reconcile accounts. This role is key in enhancing existing processes and supports the analysis, interpretation, and reporting of cost and inventory data. The opportunity carries diverse responsibilities and offers extensive interaction across departments. Must have manufacturing experience. This is a remote position with occasional travel to the north suburbs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in month-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate financial statement preparation.
  • Prepare journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
  • Assist in researching and resolving reconciliation variances within financial statements.
  • Analyze and evaluate current procedures to implement best practices.
  • Prepare payroll journals and reconcile payroll benefits.
  • Reconcile sales tax accounts.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate pertinent information to direct supervisor.
  • Maintain the security and confidentiality of documents and data in the assigned area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience as an accountant.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Actively seeks opportunities and takes initiative to complete tasks. Goes above and beyond to enhance results.
  • Prioritizes understanding customer needs to add value, keeping team efforts aligned with customer focus.
  • Applies an analytical approach to problem-solving, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of results.
