Manager, Construction Procurement

Job Description

Signature Aviation is in search of an experienced Category Manager specializing in construction procurement to develop and execute a strategic sourcing and procurement function aimed at optimizing the Total Cost of Ownership within construction-related categories. The procurement team will concentrate on indirect costs associated with construction projects, including materials, subcontractor services, equipment rental, maintenance, and environmental compliance. We are looking for a proactive team member who is comfortable diving into hands-on analytics and engaging with various stakeholders. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional communication skills, enabling the establishment of strategic partnerships with suppliers and internal teams while also exhibiting strong planning abilities to meet project timelines. A robust understanding of sourcing practices and spending analytics is essential.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement and refine procurement processes to ensure adherence to procurement policies, guidelines, and best practices, maximizing value and cost savings in construction purchases.
• Conduct thorough evaluations of construction suppliers, both prior to selection and for ongoing performance and compliance after contract execution.
• Perform benchmarking analyses against industry standards for pricing, performance, service levels, and other key indicators.
• Act as the primary liaison for all strategic construction-related purchases, managing RFx processes and leading negotiations for contracts.
• Collaborate with the Legal team to ensure proper development and continuous review of construction contract templates and supplier evaluations.
• Partner with the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) department to provide insights into projected construction-related expenditures for budget planning.
• Foster and maintain strategic relationships with stakeholders across all levels within Signature Aviation related to construction procurement.
• Lead supplier selection initiatives through effective sourcing strategies, including RFx, reverse auctions, and demand management tailored to construction needs.
• Assess both new and existing suppliers for their capability to meet requirements for cost, quality, capacity and timely delivery of construction materials and services.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics using established scorecards to drive continuous improvement and ensure that suppliers meet or exceed expectations consistently.
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum Education and/or Experience:

• A Bachelor's degree, preferably in procurement, construction management, or a related field, is required to ensure a strong foundation in relevant principles and practices applicable to the role.
• A minimum of five (5) years of corporate procurement experience, with a demonstrated focus on construction procurement strategies and practices, including at least three (3) years in a management or supervisory role.
• Prior experience with procurement categories specific to construction, such as materials, equipment, and subcontracting services, is required.
  
  

Additional Knowledge And Skills

• Previous experience establishing or working in a construction procurement organization is highly beneficial.
• Strong proficiency in spend analytics, particularly in the context of construction.
• Ability to perform quick calculations related to construction costs, such as discounts, percentage increases, and project budgeting figures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and PowerPoint), with advanced skills in Excel for data analysis and reporting.
