Responsible for data and financial analysis and other special projects/related work to support revenue cycle operations at the enterprise, regional and local business level. This position is expected to perform analytical work with limited supervision and with full responsibility for various projects and report/data production.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Management, Information Technology/Computer Science, or Healthcare Administration or related field AND two (2) years of experience in business analysis or similar role

OR High School Diploma or equivalent AND six (5) years’ experience in business analysis or similar role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Lean Six Sigma Experience and Certification.

2. Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) with the Hospital Financial Management Association (HFMA).

EXPERIENCE:

1. Experience with data extraction.

2. Experience with the Development and maintenance of metrics and communication dashboards.

3. Experience with various data extraction and visualization tools such as Excel, Power Point, Tableau, etc.

4. Experience in Revenue Cycle.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position.  They are not intended to be constructed as an all-inclusive list of all responsibilities and duties.  Other duties may be assigned.

1. Collaboratively interacts with Information Technology, Patient Access, Financial Services, HPN, and Decision Support.

2. Remains current with how information is collected, maintained and reported in all key systems.

3. Identifies data uses and develops analysis opportunities that are currently not used. Extracts and defines relevant information from the electronic health record related to client/patient, insurance or other revenue cycle/business operations data.

4. Maintains technical knowledge and expertise in understanding patient access, clinician utilization, healthcare revenues, reimbursement and the correlation to the monthly financial statements.

5. Completes complex financial/operational analysis from beginning to end with minimal supervision or direction from supervisor.  Maintains and continually improves on technical skills needed to manipulate data.

6. Supports the preparation of routine and ad hoc financial reporting focused on identifying underlying business trends, and work directly with local-level management to identify opportunities for improvement.

7. Maintains intermediate reporting writing skills on StrataJazz, EPIC Reporting Workbench, BI, Epic Cubes and other systems as needed.

8. Analyzes financial and operational data and develops financial models used to guide business decisions.

9. Communicates and educates others regarding financial improvement analyses, denials issues, findings and recommendations.

10. Provides leadership and support in performance improvement activities.

11. Creates formal presentations of revenue cycle results and trends for senior management.

12. Promotes and contributes positively to the teamwork of the department by assisting co-workers, contributing ideas and problem- solving with co-workers as observed by supervisor.

13. Participates in performance improvement through planning and implementing change and maintaining and improving productivity through attendance and participation in staff meetings, committees, task forces, cross functional groups, projects and discussion with hospital and medical staff as observed by supervisor

14. Monitors data against regional and national benchmarks as well as industry leading key performance indicators.

15. Produces monthly revenue cycle dashboards and other performance metrics for senior leaders, local business owner and for front line staff.

16. Validates workflows and source information as it is relevant to data.

17. Collaborates with other business and financial analysts to streamline work, avoid duplication, and share best practices relative to data management.

18. Produces reports and other analytics to quantify and define opportunities and issues.

19. Interprets and summarizes results of various analyses in a timely and meaningful way.

20. Re-engineers processes to positively impact productivity in terms of timeliness and accuracy.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Financial, technical and professional skills.

2. Oral and written communication ability to effectively represent the department and Hospital in interactions with third party payers, patients, physicians and other departments.  Ability to explain this analysis to a non-technical audience of both internal and external customers, including executive management.

3. Analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to work and communicate effectively with other departments.  Ability to strategize new ways of trending/analyzing data in order to complete analysis.

4. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast paced environment and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences

5. Ability to work independently on projects and add measurable value to the organization.

6. Extensive knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Excel and Access software preferred.

7. Demonstrates ability to work with staff to resolve problems and correct deficiencies in processes related to revenue cycle    processes.

8. Demonstrates knowledge of third party payer regulations, revenue cycle functions, and electronic health records requirements.

9. Maintains current knowledge of performance improvement processes as it applies to health care.
