The Opportunity
MLT is looking for an exceptional Donor Relations Sr. Associate / Manager to foster donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship among our key philanthropic audiences: individuals, foundations, and corporate philanthropy. A member of the Advancement department, the position will report to the Managing Director, Advancement.
Work You'll Do
Donor Cultivation, Stewardship, and Solicitation Content and CommunicationsProactively provide the Advancement team with content and communication drafts to utilize in their cultivation, stewardship, and solicitation efforts. Create donor outreach drafts and templates that can be easily customized and utilized for specific donors and stakeholders.Own quarterly donor impact newsletter.Draft and project manage a portfolio of individual communications, such as: Draft strategic, personalized donor communications on behalf of others, resourcefully identifying information and insights to balance tone and content to appeal to the recipient and align with the sender’s style and objectives. For events that donors and other Advancement stakeholders are invited to attend, support the process for invitation, RSVP, and pre- and post-event attendee communications. Proactively move and track through an end-to-end process (such as drafting, revision, approval, sending, response tracking), utilizing tools such as Asana and Salesforce. Clearly distill, communicate, and track feedback and action items from meetings.Collateral and MaterialsUnderstand collateral needs on the team, and project manage collateral creation and updates, working with Advancement and Marcom team members. Strategize and create or collaborate on donor gratitude deliverables, for example emails, cards, letters, and multimedia presentations. Contribute Advancement content to MLT deliverables, such as donor recognition sections of the annual MLT Impact Report and annual Alumni Highlights. Proactively maintain and strategically expand team collateral, messaging, and reference library.Cross-Functional LiaisonBe the primary communications and coordination point of contact with the Marcom team, including being the primary Advancement team member to submit requests, prioritize, and project manage. Be the primary Advancement team lead on the online giving experience on the MLT website. Be the primary coordination point of contact with the Alumni Engagement team. Represent the Advancement team on the cross-functional Content Optimization Working Group.Direct Response CampaignsIdentify, organize, and maintain a list of existing / 3rd party racial equity-related events, groups, forums, publications etc. that MLT should consider taking part in/being present in/at to further our philanthropic audience goals, such as within narrative change, positioning, and prospecting. Research, synthesize, and share MLT news, impact data and stories, narrative messaging, etc. from all parts of the organization.ResearchIdentify, organize, and maintain a list of existing / 3rd party racial equity-related events, groups, forums, publications etc. that MLT should consider taking part in/being present in/at to further our philanthropic audience goals, such as within narrative change, positioning, and prospecting. Research, synthesize, and share MLT news, impact data and stories, narrative messaging, etc. from all parts of the organization.What You Have 4-7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in donor relations, marketing, communications, or content roles.Superb writing skills, with strong ability to adapt style to appropriate brand and individual tone and voice.Creativity and ability to achieve qualitative excellence, and the ability to measure success quantitatively with a goal achievement and continuous improvement orientation.Strong project management skills, including using project management tools, and ability to complete projects and meet deadlines.Ability to effectively build positive, productive, mutually beneficial relationships and lead cross-functional collaboration and communication.Experience with email marketing tools, such as Hubspot, is preferred. Knowledge of CRM tools, such as Salesforce, a plus.What We Offer
