We are seeking a dedicated and proactive EHS Specialist to join our team, playing a pivotal role in ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering a strong safety culture throughout the organization. This role is integral to inspecting projects, addressing unsafe conditions, and providing expert EHS guidance and support. The EHS Specialist will drive the standardization and enhancement of safety protocols, helping the company achieve its commitment to operational excellence and employee well-being. 

Are You Looking to: 

  • Being responsible for upholding DWT’s EHS policies and procedures? 

  • Assist Operations by developing site-specific safety plans that ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards? 

  • Perform field safety inspections and document the findings. Address any unsafe conditions or behaviors as they are identified? 

  • Assist project leaders by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions in a positive manner, utilizing feedback through the Voice of the Team (VOT) process? 

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Operations, Human Resources, Training, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain, to achieve safety objectives? 

  • Conducting investigations into incidents, sharing lessons learned, and overseeing the return-to-work process for injured employees? 

  • Facilitate safety meetings and toolbox talk with field personnel. Encouraging project personnel to participate or lead topics relevant to project execution? 

  • Assist in managing safety PPE and ensure workers participate in operational training, engagement, and customer interfacing as needed? 

Are You Ready to:  

  • Provide on-site presence at our projects to monitor site conditions, identify potential hazards, and recommend mitigation strategies before incidents occur. 

  • Conduct field inspections and document results using the DWT Real-time Operations Assessment Report (ROAR) system. 

  • Support EHS and technical training plans to ensure workgroups meet competency standards. 

  • Collaborate with operations teams to develop task-specific risk assessments. 

  • Lead and participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and implement measures to prevent recurrence. 

  • Ensure the project meets environmental compliance requirements, including waste management and reporting, spill prevention measures, and wildlife reporting. 

  • Monitor lessons learned, track EHS performance metrics, and oversee the execution of preventive and corrective actions. 

  • Foster a proactive safety culture during project execution through engagement, communication, and transparency with both internal teammates and external customers.  

  • Serve as the on-site site point of contact for EHS. 

What You’ll Need:  

  • Associate's degree in a relevant field or equivalent years of work experience preferred. 

  • Minimum of 2 years of wind energy or renewable energy construction experience preferred 

  • Valid Driver's License. 

  • Proven experience in EHS roles, including field inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigation, is preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards. 

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. 

  • Ability to lead training sessions and drive EHS initiatives. 

  • Competency in maintaining and analyzing safety performance metrics. 

  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening. 

  • The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus because of potential work in close confines. 

  • Employees must be physically fit enough to free climb 300 ft multiple times a day while wearing 25+ lbs. of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions. 

  • Must be capable of rescuing teammates anywhere in the tower in the event of an emergency. 

  • We care about the safety and wellbeing of every one of our employees. To help ensure their safety, any employees climbing a wind turbine must use a Personal Fall Arrest System, and may not exceed the system’s maximum weight capacity of 309 lbs. This weight must include the individual, their tooling, uniform, and personal protective equipment. Based on these safety requirements and the standard weight of equipment, employees who climb wind turbines may not exceed a maximum personal body weight of 260 lbs.
