Job description

This is a remote position.

Our client is seeking a Group Program Manager to lead a mission-critical, end-to-end platform modernization initiative. This is a high-impact, executive-facing role responsible for driving Agile execution, managing complex cross-functional and international vendor relationships, and ensuring strategic alignment between technology investments and business outcomes.

Unlike traditional program management roles, this position goes beyond process facilitation: it requires true leadership in Agile transformation, financial oversight, and stakeholder influence at the executive level. The Group Program Manager will be accountable for program health, Agile maturity, and ensuring that teams deliver measurable business value, not just complete tasks. This position reports to the Director, Portfolio & Program Management, as part of an established team of seasoned, disciplined, accountable and self-motivated PMO professionals.

This is a full-time, exempt position.

Base Salary Range: $175,000 - $195,000

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Program Leadership & Agile Execution
    • Own and lead our client's platform modernization efforts, ensuring seamless execution from strategy to delivery.
    • Drive Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and modern Agile principles, ensuring Agile adoption goes beyond compliance and delivers tangible business value.
    • Facilitate Program Increment (PI) planning, Scrum of Scrums, and Agile ceremonies—but with a focus on outcomes, not just process adherence.
    • Establish, track, and report on program health metrics, ensuring clear visibility into risks, dependencies, and roadblocks.
    • Enable collaboration across engineering, product, operations, and vendor teams to drive business outcomes.
  2. Executive & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the primary program liaison to internal Executive Leadership Team (ELT), ensuring transparency and alignment on progress, risks, and key decisions.
    • Develop and deliver data-driven presentations and reports, translating complex program details into compelling executive narratives.
    • Act as a strategic thought partner to business leaders, ensuring program execution aligns with the organization's long-term goals.
  3. Vendor & Partner Management
  • Own the relationship with an international vendor, ensuring alignment with delivery timelines, performance SLAs, and business priorities.
  • Lead contract negotiations and vendor governance, ensuring accountability for results.
  • Proactively manage dependencies between internal teams and external partners, mitigating risks and ensuring smooth collaboration.
  • Agile Budgeting & Financial Oversight
    • Manage the full program budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and cost efficiency.
    • Track and report on financial health metrics, providing leadership with insights on investment impact.
    • Partner with Finance and Product teams to optimize Agile funding models and maximize ROI.
  • Change Management & Agile Transformation
    • Drive enterprise-wide Agile adoption, coaching teams and leadership on modern Agile best practices beyond SAFe®.
    • Lead change management efforts, ensuring teams successfully transition to new ways of working and adopt Agile at scale.
    • Align Agile execution with the organization's broader digital transformation strategy, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Evolve the Program Management Office agile and traditional methodologies and toolset.
    • Consult with and educate team members across the organization on program and project management best practices, standards and technologies.
    • Acquire and cultivate working knowledge of the organization’s products, services and solutions.
    • Challenge status quo, elevate productivity standards and champion new efficiencies.

  • Requirements

    • 10+ years of experience leading large-scale technology programs, including software product development, Agile transformation, and enterprise modernization initiatives.
    • 10+ years of Agile Program Management experience, with deep expertise in Agile frameworks (SAFe®, Scrum, Kanban, Lean Portfolio Management, etc.).
    • Executive presence and communication skills, with a proven track record of engaging senior leadership and presenting to C-level stakeholders.
    • Experience managing international vendors, including contract negotiation, performance management, and risk mitigation.
    • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting for large programs.
    • Ability to thrive in a collaborative fast-paced, schedule-driven matrix organizations.
    • Expert command of lifecycle management for software, products, programs, and projects.
    • Strong team player able to influence the outcome of projects without direct authority and be a role model for others in the organization.
    • Ability to drive Agile maturity and business value realization, ensuring Agile adoption translates into measurable impact.
    • Project Management Institute (PMI), Scrum and SAFe certifications required.
