Job description

This is a remote position.

Position Description:  

IDG is seeking subject matter specialists, experts, and advisors specializing in climate change, environment, resilience and sustainability, and climate finance.  Future positions may be based globally or in the United States. Potential opportunities with IDG may include roles such as Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party, Subject Matter Specialists, Climate Experts, and additional positions related to the international health sector.

Illustrative Responsibilities  
  • Serve as subject matter/climate expert or team lead on international projects focused on climate change, climate financing, and climate related subject matter.  

  • Achieve program results efficiently, in a timely fashion and in compliance with USAID and US Government policies and procedures.  

  • Participate in the design and implementation of technical support activities related to climate policies. 

  • Assess climate financing impact and other related health financing studies to improve access to key financial information to determine feasibility and sustainability of scaling up climate finance interventions. 

  • Represent the projects, company, and programs in the health financing area in international forums as well as with the professional communities in countries of collaboration.  

  • Possibility to engage in project design, evaluations, analyses, and recommendations for international health systems.  

  • Mentor local staff to enhance capacity and actively contribute expertise to the Contract overall and provide strategic and operational direction.  

  • Comply with all terms and conditions of the Contract.  

 

Illustrative Qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree in a field relevant to economics or health economics with academic specialization in health financing or commensurate work experience in environmental sciences, international affairs, public policy or a closely related field.  
  • A record of programmatic accomplishment, professional achievement, management competence, and interpersonal skills.   
  • Knowledge of methodologies used in health finance research, cost-effectiveness analysis, quantitative analysis, and statistical/econometric analysis. 
  • Experience with building and managing stakeholder relationships with USAID DC-based team, senior Mission, embassy officials and other local in-country stakeholders.   
  • Thorough working knowledge of USG operations, regulations, policies, procedures, and programs.   
  • Familiarity with USAID Program Cycle, project design, adaptive management principles across a USAID Mission and with relevant government and other local partners is preferred. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English is required.
