Job Summary:
The Paralegal for Franchise Matters reports directly to the General Counsel. The position is a high-level leadership role responsible for supporting the Company’s Franchises, including sales, contracting, onboarding, and operational success, while ensuring adherence to all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. The Paralegal will act as a key liaison with senior management.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Manages the process for new franchise agreements, transfers of ownership, renewals, terminations, and ownership modifications.
Monitors Franchisee compliance with the Franchise Agreement, including Franchise Agreement key dates and milestones.
Prepares and approves franchise correspondence, including notices under the Franchise Agreement.
Assists with updating the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD).
Maintains and updates the Franchise database system (currently FranConnect).
Collaborates with senior leadership on Franchise Matters.
Provides clear communication to Franchises on legal or regulatory matters and participates in Network calls and trainings.
Assists with Franchisee onboarding.
Helps educate staff and impacted departments on Franchise operations, standards, legal requirements, and processes.
Undertakes special assignments, including research, review, and analysis as requested.
Assists General Counsel in regulatory and legal matters, as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Demonstrated experience in franchise contracting and oversight.
Demonstrated ability to organize and implement educational programs.
Exceptional interactive skills in communicating orally and in writing.
Demonstrated computer skills (Excel, Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Word).
Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal degree, or demonstrated experience.
In-house corporate legal experience required.
