THE ROLE

DEPT® is looking for a QA Engineer to play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our work. This is for a 2 month contract. Candidates must be located in the PST time zone.

 

The role demands pixel-perfect visual quality assurance across web pages, compatibility testing across different browsers, breakpoints, and devices (desktop and mobile). As a crucial member of our development process, you will be responsible for understanding how content and design flow across breakpoints, implementing end-to-end test scripts, QA automation, and utilizing bug tracking software like JIRA/Asana. You will effectively communicate issues to design and engineering teams, work independently with minimal supervision, and serve as the single point of contact for QA issues. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Develop and execute test plans and cases based on product requirements, focusing on pixel-perfect visual quality assurance across web pages.
  • Conduct compatibility testing across different browsers, breakpoints, and devices (desktop and mobile), understanding how content and design flow across these breakpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with developers to identify and resolve bugs and issues, effectively communicating these issues to design and engineering teams.
  • Automate tests using testing frameworks, implement end-to-end test scripts, and integrate them into our CI/CD pipeline, with knowledge of bug tracking software like JIRA/Asana.
  • Provide detailed documentation of test cases, bug reports, and test results with steps to reproduce found issues. 
  • Continuously improve testing processes and strategies to enhance efficiency and test coverage, working independently with minimal supervision.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 4+ years of experience in working in a QA environment
  • Proven experience as a QA Engineer or similar role in software development.
  • Strong understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Experience with automated testing tools and test management software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to ensure pixel perfect visual quality assurance across web pages and compatibility testing across different browsers, breakpoints, and devices (desktop and mobile).
  • Understanding of content and design flow across breakpoints, and implementing end-to-end test scripts.
  • Experience with QA automation and knowledge of bug tracking software like JIRA/Asana.
  • Effective communication skills for reporting issues to design and engineering teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, acting as a single point of contact for QA issues.
  • A self-starter with excellent client management skills and ability to manage expectations.

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $75 - $90/hour. Rate is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, expertise, and organizational impact. This is based on a 40-hour workweek and leveling. Keep in mind, we're flexible.
