Job description

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Head of Business Development with a passion for the video games industry to join the team at Coatsink and help us find new growth opportunities and move the business forward.

Focused on finding and developing new business, the Head of Business Development will play a key role in identifying the right potential partners for Coatsink, discovering new opportunities, and ensuring Coatsink remains a highly regarded choice for clients when selecting a development or publishing partner.

Responsibilities (not an exhaustive list)
General:

- Work closely with the Head of Studio, COO, Marketing Manager and Partner Relations Manager at Coatsink

- Identify, establish, and maintain relationships with strategic partners, including publishers, platform holders, technology providers, and other relevant industry stakeholders.

- Contribute to the development and execution of the company's overall business development strategy, with a strong focus on acquiring new work-for-hire opportunities.

- Attend industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build brand awareness, establish new connections, and strengthen existing relationships.

- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and client needs, and share this information internally to inform business development strategies.

- Build, manage and maintain a workflow and ensure all incoming and potential deals are tracked and kept up to date

- Identify opportunities to help boost game recognition (The Game Awards, BAFTA, etc), and increase sales (Nintendo Indie World Sale, XBOX and Sony’s Invitational Sales) etc

- Thoroughly review and understand client contracts, including terms and conditions, payment schedules, intellectual property rights, and service level agreements.

- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to inform strategic decision-making, identify market trends, and capitalise on competitive opportunities.

- Proactively identify and cultivate strategic partnerships within the Games industry

- Collaborate closely with Integration, Product Development, Operations, Legal, and Sales teams to integrate new solutions, enhance existing products, and deliver seamless experiences to our customers

- Cooperate with production teams to create pitches and proposals for partners

Clients:

- Look for potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging the industry network

- Stay up to date with ongoing projects

- Communicate with prospective clients and gather information about work scope, budgets, and timelines

- Review and present Pitch Decks

- Understand if a prospective client is a good fit for Coatsink

- Identify and discuss with Head of Studio and COO if we have the necessary resources to take on a prospective client

- Understand the client’s roadmap and have the ability to communicate it internally and to partners

- Develop proposals that speak to the client's needs, concerns, and objectives taking into account cultural and language differences;

- Periodically learn and present new technology and services to enhance existing relationships;

- Understanding the Coatsink business model and different contract types

Person Specification
Experience

- A minimum of 8+ years experience in a business development role in the games industry

- Extensive experience in scouting new business opportunities, generating proposals for prospective clients, building sales plans for clients, contract review.

- Legal experience and ability to work with external counsel to resolve complex matters on internal and external projects

Skills

- Fluency in English

- Strong negotiation skills

- Great communication and presentation skills, able to convey complex concepts in a simple, visual way

- Detail-oriented and capable of conducting valuable research and generating insights on industry trends, regulations, and developments and translating this information into an effective pitch deck
