Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Quality Senior Analyst to join a team that oversees the day-to-day operations of our enterprise defect management process, known as the Data Quality Observation (DQO) Log. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of our data by monitoring newly entered items, triaging them for completeness, and assigning them to the appropriate data owner or data custodian. The Data Quality Senior Analyst will collaborate with assigned owners to prioritize issues, confirm funding, and prepare for resolution. Additionally, all items in the DQO Log will be monitored for aging, escalation, and supported to ensure timely resolution.

This process is a foundational component of the Enterprise Data Quality Program, providing the basis for Data Trust across all organizational and Data Governance functions, teams, and data uses (regulatory, analytics, AI, reporting, etc.). The ideal candidate is a passionate data advocate with a strong understanding of data quality principles, tools, and best practices.

A successful candidate for this role will leverage their data quality and data management experience, technical expertise, business acumen, delivery, and leadership skills to drive data quality remediation with internal and external partners. This role will require the development of partnerships with functional leaders to remove roadblocks preventing the remediation and closure of data quality issues.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor the DQO Log for newly entered items and triage them for completeness

  • Assign items to the correct data owner or data custodian for prioritization and resolution

  • Collaborate with assigned owners to ensure work is progressing as expected, providing support if they encounter difficulties, and escalating issues if they are blocked or not responding

  • Understand data issues, form relationships with data owners, and facilitate the resolution process

  • Ensure all issues are moved to a state where everyone agrees and resolution work begins

  • Report concerns and escalate issues to the appropriate committees

  • Look for continual improvement in the defect management process

Qualifications

  • 5 + years of experience, preferably in Banking or Finance

  • 2+ years of experience in data quality, ideally establishing, operationalizing, and continuously improving aspects of a data quality program

  • Understanding of data governance frameworks and practices (e.g., DCAM)

  • Ability to lead DQ resolutions initiatives

  • Understanding of data management principles, data governance, and regulatory requirements, particularly regarding data quality coverage and monitoring of sensitive and critical data

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data quality assessment skills, focusing on data accuracy, completeness, and security

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to diverse audiences, drive consensus, and influence stakeholders

  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborate effectively to achieve shared objectives

  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills

  • Demonstrates the ability to examine a specific problem and understand the perspective of stakeholders; uses fact-finding techniques to identify and document specific problems

  • Strong organizational acumen, including understanding of systems, management processes, and information sources

  • Strong business acumen; understanding of how data quality impacts business units and how data quality programs support business objectives

  • Proficiency in data quality tools and technologies, including data quality management, metadata, coverage standards, monitoring, and defect management

  • Familiarity with data catalog capabilities and tools (e.g., Alation, Collibra)

  • Familiarity with dashboarding technologies (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)

  • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies (e.g., GCP, AWS)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/365 products (Word, Excel, PPT)

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience required

Travel

  • Occasional travel to include overnight stay

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $90,000 to $115,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
