The Director, Media Investment role serves as a pivotal leader within our department. This position is crafted for a visionary who thrives in the fast-paced world of media, embodying both the strategic foresight necessary for agency growth and the operational acumen to ensure excellence in media buying and partner management. Our unique culture—more akin to a tech company than a traditional agency—demands a dynamic individual who is eager to innovate and ready to lead a large multi-level team focused on questioning the status quo in media buying and delivering exceptional value to our clients.

As a Director, Media Investment you will focus on:

  • Strategic Investment: Lead the cross-channel investment approach on large agency accounts spanning linear TV, OTT, OLV, audio, and/or display through an understanding of client goals, marketplace conditions, and expansion opportunities. Drive the strategic scaling of inventory sources and revenue streams to reinforce agency and client growth, while using your leadership skills to maintain smooth and efficient campaign management.

  • Channel Expertise: Helping our team maintain a best-in-class buying approach and partnerships in the TV/audio/programmatic landscape, while exemplifying a deep understanding of the overarching media marketplace and how various dynamics affect our campaigns and clients.

  • Leadership: Lead, manage, and mentor a multi-level team of both people managers and individual contributors within our department, fostering an environment of creativity, learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborative Growth: Work closely with agency leadership to identify, strategize, and implement growth opportunities, helping ensure the agency's continued success and innovation.

  • Partner Engagement: Excellent knowledge of TV, audio, and display trends through educational meetings with publishers as well as your own independent research, utilizing insights to make informed media recommendations and fostering knowledge sharing among your peers and your reports. Demonstrate clear investment in external relationships at the sales level with our largest networks and regularly cascade meaningful opportunities and updates to our agency, advocating for our needs, and maintaining strong ties with these valued partners.

  • Media Negotiation: Evaluate partner materials and negotiate media plans and costs for complex, full-funnel campaign objectives. Develop your team’s ability to vet new offerings and assess the value of media opportunities for the clients you work on, while finding ways to expand access to these offerings. Use your strong knowledge of the wider media marketplace and clients’ needs to contextualize media opportunities and their potential, and use that insight and your partner relationships to negotiate highly competitive costs and terms. Analyze, help negotiate, and monitor large Upfront deals with major media partners, maximizing value and strategic positioning for the agency.

  • Team Projects: Responsible for leading the team to work on complex, large-scale strategic projects that have a major impact on the Media Investment department, showcasing your flexibility and creativity in improving how we function with clients and media partners alike and helping leadership prioritize the work of the greater team

Professional Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in a media agency or publisher environment, with a focus on media buying in linear TV, OTT, digital audio, and/or display advertising. Experience in commerce, out of home, experiential, and/or paid social a plus.

  • Long-standing track record of leveraging partner relationships and industry knowledge to negotiate and execute high-value media opportunities, and demonstrable long-term relationships with key salespeople at marquee publishers/networks

  • Experience leading a moderately sized team of both people managers and individual contributors

  • Strong understanding of capabilities and ways to leverage industry platforms (DSPs, research tools)

  • Strong knowledge of incrementality testing, in-channel and cross-channel measurement solutions and best practices (ex: MMM, ghost bidding, conversion lift)

  • Knowledge of data/audience collaboration tools such as LiveRamp and third party ad servers like Flashtalking

  • Demonstrated organizational skills with a focus on strategically driving projects forward, and a proven ability to oversee process and QA of team’s work product

  • Excellent strategic marketing and communication skills to influence the adoption of new media opportunities internally and directly with clients

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and excellent business writing and presentation skills

  • Expert time management capabilities, managing multiple projects against tight deadlines while navigating a high degree of ambiguity

The hiring salary range for this role is $120,000 - $140,000 plus a discretionary performance bonus of up to 20% of base salary.
