Role Overview: 

Enterprise Services (ES) Cybersecurity has an immediate opening for a qualified individual contributor to join the RTX Cyber Threat Defense Operations group reporting to the Director of Cyber Threat Defense Operations.  As the Senior Manager, Cyber Threat Defense Operations, you will prevent the world's most advanced threat actors from breaching RTX's critical digital systems. Acting swiftly during emergency situations, you will disrupt the kill chain and defeat complex attacks via coordinated, tactical response actions across cybersecurity and digital technology teams. Your role also involves operationalizing specialized threat detection content and response processes tailored to identify and neutralize these advanced threats, drawing on your deep understanding of threat actors and attack tactics. Maintaining real-time situational awareness, you'll provide regular updates to leadership on threat defense and detection status, while also directing supporting actions from cyber threat hunt and intelligence functions to stay ahead of emerging threats.

What You Will Do:  

The Senior Manager, Cyber Threat Defense Operations uses expert knowledge of cyber defense disciplines and advance knowledge of related disciplines to:  

  • Lead, coordinate, integrate, synchronize, and influence the actions of teams and individuals across RTX organizations and functions to disrupt complex cyber attacks and defeat advanced cyber threat actors attempts to harm RTX's interests.
  • Solve wide ranging, complex, undefined cyber threat defense problems where information is difficult to obtain and requiring extensive investigation to understand the root cause.
  • Develop and establish new operational plans and processes, or significantly improve existing operational plans and processes, to implement cyber threat defense strategy.
  • Develop elements of cyber threat defense functional strategies and operational goals.
  • Communicate and articulate cyber threats, vulnerabilities, risks, and mitigations to executive leadership.
  • Occasional travel within CONUS and OCONUS is required (up to 25%). 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 Qualifications You Must Have:

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and a minimum 7 years experience in a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Cyber Defense operational roles, including Incident Response, SOC, Security Testing, Red Teaming, and Vulnerability Management. 
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • Planning, Analysis, and Operations: Preparing operational plans and planning processes, Producing after-action reports, Performing root cause analysis.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication of complex concepts, verbally and in writing, to various audiences, including executive leadership.

Remote: This position is currently designated as remote. However, the successful candidate will be required to work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. Territories). Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
