The Senior Workplace Accommodation Partner is primarily responsible for managing applicant, pre-hire, and employee requests for reasonable accommodations of primarily high complexity. May need to manage low to medium complexity cases, when case volumes dictate. The Sr. Workplace Accommodation Partner is assigned for ADA, PWFA, and religious accommodations, leaves beyond leave entitlements and permanent stay at work accommodation requests to include reassignment, to provide end-to-end case management and facilitation of the interactive process (IP) according to state and federal laws, BJC policies, and the practices of the Disability & Leave Management (DLM) program. The goal is to deliver a smooth experience for both the team member and the leader. This role will requires a high level of mastery in workplace accommodation case management, ability to work independently, and use critical analysis in decision making.
Consults with team members, managers, and other partners on a variety of workplace accommodation related requests. Analyzes and makes timely accommodation recommendations through the interactive process. Uses knowledge of ADA/ADAAA, PWFA, FMLA, USERRA, (etc.) and BJC policies, and DLM standard work to manage complex requests related to leave as an accommodation and permanent stay at work accommodations to include job reassignments and medical separations by engaging with team members and leaders to learn how the disability or religious belief/need creates a barrier to performing the team members job. Educates team members and leaders on the reasonable accommodation interactive process and potential outcomes. Engages with medical providers, leaders, HR representatives, legal, vendors, Lead or Manager, and other stakeholders as appropriate for comprehensive management of high complexity workplace accommodation matters from intake to closure. Provides case management advice and act as a resource to DLM colleagues when needed. These activities require workplace accommodation case management experience from intake to closure. Serves as a subject matter expert for organizational policies, practices, and standard work, and applicable laws and regulations.
Gathers and reviews information from team members, leaders, and medical providers using curiosity to draw out relevant details related to leave beyond leave entitlements, stay at work, religious and other accommodation requests as assigned. Coordinates return to work planning, document and analyze essential job functions, identify and implement permanent accommodations, lead the reassignment process when applicable, facilitate religious accommodation request discussions, and monitor implemented accommodations for effectiveness. Effectively serves as a change leader and collaborates where necessary to ensure appropriate case outcomes.
Prepares correspondence to medical providers for clarified/additional information relevant to the IP; in collaboration with Talent Acquisition, facilitate the reassignment process when no permanent accommodation exists in the employee’s own job; recommend and facilitate medical separations when a reasonable accommodation cannot be identified through the good faith efforts of the interactive process. Strategically partners with senior leadership to manage complex business issues including legal/employee relations, regulatory compliance, compensation/benefits.
Builds strong trust in accommodations services and working relationships across the organization; maintain regular contact with team members, leaders, and other key stakeholders regarding case progress and status; answer questions concerning ADA, PWFA, and religious accommodations and leaves of absence. Ensure exceptional customer experience by responding timely and accurately, effectively meeting SLA's. Use the diary system to effectively and timely to make determinations. Document all aspects of case coordination in the case management system to ensure proper reporting, review, compliance, audit, and data collection.
