The Associate Director-Global Security-LATAM role will report to the Senior Director, Global Security International in Indianapolis. The role will support security activities in the LATAM region and serves as a direct resource on matters affecting the security of employees, facilities and sites. Additionally, this role will support the Legal Division with investigating theft, diversion and counterfeiting of Lilly products. It is expected that this role will be responsible for security governance and consultation support for company operations in Latin America and the Caribbean as well as product protection investigations in the region. The successful candidate will have a global view, as well as experience interacting with a diverse workforce in an international setting. The role may also be called upon to contribute to events and security management activities anywhere in the world based on the needs of the department. 

The following are key performance attributes for the successful candidate:

  • Contribute successfully to a diverse team of security professionals:   Integrate fundamental security-related experience, training, and skills into the Global Security team using highly effective interpersonal skills.
  • Deliver high quality, effective security operations:  Apply existing skills and develop new competencies to execute duties in the areas of personnel and site security; asset protection; security investigations; threat intelligence; critical incident support; law enforcement liaison; and engagement of outside professional security resources.
  • Partner to ensure success:  Establish and maintain key internal and external relationships to achieve operational successes.  Key internal partners include Human Resources; Law Division; Health, Safety & Environment; Ethics & Compliance; IT Security; and Facilities Management. Maintain an external network to aid in the execution of their duties.  Establish and manage effective contracts, performance, and relationships with vendors such as private investigators.
  • Successfully manage crisis and emergency situations.
  • Investigation: Conduct complex criminal investigations involving counterfeit, stolen and diverted products and computer crime, and/or financial crime investigations.      Examples include fraud, theft, workplace investigations, loss of intellectual property by internal or external sources.  
  • Security Assessments: Apply existing security standards and policies when conducting and fully documenting site security reviews of company facilities and strategic partners
  • Physical Security Design: Conduct risk assessments of company sites using recognized security tools and protocols. Provide professional expertise in the design of security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms) and procedures.
  • Threat management: Comprehensive evaluation, investigation and response to threats or other hostile acts directed to individuals and the corporation.
  • Personal security: Security support for at risk persons to include conducting security advances, close protection, evacuation, medical triage, travel security intelligence and logistics management. Security for external events occurring in internal and external venues.

  Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of ten years investigative and case management experience in a national/federal, state or municipal law enforcement agency. 
  • Minimum of five years in a team leader or supervisory role, responsibilities of which include personnel management and operational management
  • Possession and maintenance of a valid US passport
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Experience in supervising and conducting complex transnational criminal, computer crime, and/or financial crime investigations, national security investigations.
  • Experience working with law enforcement agencies in LATAM
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop investigative information of value through multiple sources.
  • Ability to establish productive relationships and effectively liaise with law enforcement, regulatory and prosecutorial agencies.
  • Previous experience posted outside the United States as a representative of a US law enforcement agency
  • Ability to accurately and thoroughly document investigative results.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills and the ability to perform duties independently with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to interact successfully with people of varied backgrounds, cultures and nationalities in an international setting.
  • Ability in all assignments to collect and analyze data from multiple sources, formulate well-founded conclusions, and present valid recommendations in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Experience working remotely as a member of a diverse multi-national team.

  • At times the candidate will be expected to work outside the normal daytime work hours. 
  • Domestic and international travel will be required

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$122,250 - $179,300

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
