We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Solar Analyst to join our team and contribute to the efficient deployment of solar installations within the community housing sector. In this role, you will conduct data analysis on potential properties for solar viability, utilising a variety of tools and platforms to assess roof suitability and energy potential. You’ll be responsible for reviewing large datasets, performing desktop feasibility assessments, and developing a ranking system to prioritise properties for solar installations. The ideal candidate will have experience in solar energy analysis, a strong grasp of solar system design, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to optimise portfolio selections.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Data Analysis: Review and filter spreadsheets provided by community housing partners to identify the most suitable properties for solar installations.
Desktop Solar Feasibility Assessment: Conduct high-level solar analysis using tools such as Nearmaps, OpenSolar, or Pylon to assess rooftops for solar viability.
Suitability Ranking: Develop a scoring metric to categorize properties from most suitable to least suitable based on factors like roof size, orientation, shading, structural integrity, and solar array potential.
KPI-Driven Solar Reviews: Maintain a daily target for the number of rooftop analyses completed, ensuring timely and efficient portfolio reviews.
Data Accuracy & Reporting: Work closely with the internal team to ensure data is accurate, structured, and delivered in the required format for financial modeling and presentation to CHP partners.
Iterative Portfolio Refinement: Support ongoing reviews as projects scale, refining property selections for each new stage (e.g., first 500 homes, second 500 homes, etc.).
Collaborative Data Communication: Engage in two-way communication with internal stakeholders to refine and standardize the process of reviewing, reporting, and presenting findings.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in solar analysis and desktop feasibility assessments, preferably within the Australian market.
Strong understanding of solar energy system design, shading analysis, roof structures, and solar array configurations.
Highly proficient in Excel with the ability to filter, sort, and manipulate large datasets effectively.
Experience with Nearmaps, OpenSolar, Pylon, or similar solar analysis platforms.
Meticulous attention to detail in analyzing and interpreting solar potential data.
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess multiple data points and make informed recommendations.
Excellent written communication skills to document findings clearly and concisely.
Ability to work independently while ensuring alignment with team objectives and KPI expectations.
