Guardian is seeking a senior executive with a proven track record leading high performing sales teams to achieve market-leading profitable growth, while building upon a strong culture and focus on developing talent. The Head of Group Benefits Field Sales will be responsible for leading a countrywide field sales organization to execute a profitable growth strategy through ongoing sales and retention.
The ideal candidate is passionate about the development of people and teams, continuously identifying opportunities to develop top talent, improving processes, and leveraging technology in the advancement of team capabilities. You will lead, coach, and develop Sales Regional Vice Presidents and segment leaders responsible for developing and executing go-to-market strategies in their markets.
The role will collaborate with Group Benefits senior leaders and internal partners to leverage data when delivering on Guardian’s promise to inspire well-being and managing top and bottom-line growth strategies. Success of this role will be largely dependent on creating highly performing teams that are successful at building internal and external relationships and achieving financial and operational results.
You Will:
Develop a national sales plan and represent Guardian in the marketplace to achieve financial goals to maximize profitability, growth, retention and increased market share
Oversee and maintain diverse, high performing teams by creating a culture with a strong sense of accountability for results, team performance, and change resilience
Strive for and champion continuous improvement by creating followership and collaborating with cross functional teams to raise the bar on achieving corporate, financial, and business unit objectives
Provide intelligence on national, regional and local market activity including competitor landscape, customer wants and needs, and emerging trends with Group Benefits products
Support the general wellbeing of client relationships by ensuring market presence and cultivating strong external relationships with brokers and distribution partners.
Formulate short and long-term strategic sales objectives, in line with the overall Group Benefits business strategy, taking into consideration the market and competitive environment.
You Have:
A minimum of 15 years of group benefits sales insurance leadership experience and a demonstrated ability to create long term strategic outcomes and growth.
Familiarity and/or experience with Group Benefits products
A capacity and orientation to be energized and excited by challenging goals; it is reflected in a true sense of competitiveness and drive for results.
Ability to think strategically, drive discipline, and hold teams accountable to achieving results.
Ability to work collaboratively and create followership among the sales organization, and to influence across the broader organization to align and enable growth.
Demonstrated business acumen with ability to analyze and communicate financial reports, accurately forecast sales results, and control all local expenses.
Keen ability to attract and recruit top talent, motivate the team, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team, and manage performance.

The salary reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
