Job description

This is a remote position located anywhere with in the United States. This position does require approximately 50% travel time.

Position Summary

The Swine Technical Sales Specialist will support commercial growth of Zinpro swine sales by leveraging industry knowledge, animal management understanding, and nutritional expertise. This person will provide technical training for the internal sales team as well as customers. The Swine Technical Sales Specialist will be responsible for the growth, development and implementation of selling and marketing Zinpro Performance Minerals across the US and Canadian swine industries. Additionally, they will contribute to building our global strategy for swine and collaborate with technical and research teams.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Grow Zinpro mineral sales through enhanced customer relationships and technical knowledge about products within the supported industry.
  • Retain and expand strong working relationships with large, highly complex, visible, strategic or tactically important swine customers.
  • Build multi-level and cross-functional relationships with strategic new customers. 
  • Assist in directing, coordinating, and summarizing customer research studies, identifying insights and messaging to take to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create presentations, economic models, and other tools to enhance customer satisfaction and product sales.
  • Prepare and present technical product presentations to a broad range of audiences, from producers and feed company representatives to industry professionals and the academic community.
  • Provide support for customer service issues and coordinate the use of company resources to provide value-added services based on a thorough understanding of the customer’s needs.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans, strategies for assigned territory or accounts based on strategic importance, understanding of market/industry trends, and firsthand customer information.
  • Remain abreast of the latest swine research findings and technologies being implemented in swine nutrition and management.
  • Provide on-farm technical support in product sales, including specific product knowledge while utilizing practical swine management knowledge to position Zinpro effectively with customers both at the nutritionist and producer levels.
  • Evaluate findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes and/or to develop applications of findings to new uses.
  • Prepare presentations/proposals that effectively communicate relevant information for both internal and external discussions.
  • Communicate and collaborate with Zinpro’s Product Develop and technical teams to develop strategies for future research and value-added tools for our customers.
  • Work in a team environment with Sales, Marketing, and Product Development to support and maintain responsiveness to customers, collaborate on ideas, and address customer issues and concerns.
  • Independently and through team efforts increase sales through enhanced customer relationships and technical knowledge about products within the swine industry.
  • Partner with the North American and global sales teams to provide technical support and expertise to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work as a part of a team to help deliver Zinpro business goals, promoting product benefits to customers and key influencers.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the activities and products of the competition.    Review and follow market movements, production changes, and industry news and events.
  • Represent the company at Trade Shows and Association meetings to promote our products.    
  • Review served market to determine and clarify customer needs/expectations, market pricing, technology advancements, or opportunities and report back to within the group with supporting details.
  • Maintain monthly sales reports, business growth charts identifying business opportunities and areas of focus for product development.
  • Effective and efficient use of Zinpro assets, including marketing funds, direct expenses, company vehicle, and all tools and equipment provided by Zinpro.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Required:

  • Doctorate degree (PhD, DVM) in swine nutrition or a related field.
  • 5+ years feed industry sales, on-farm or technical service experience and/or training in the swine industry.
  • Experience providing technical services to internal and external customers
  • Swine account or business management 
  • Experience working with large multi-site enterprise swine integrations
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional and team environment. Strong communication skills
  • The ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of business

Preferred:

  • Ingredient supply business experience 
  • Practical swine nutrition, field swine health or live production
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Passion for understanding, creating, and communicating value and solutions to team members and customers.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

The work environment consists of multiple different environments:   standard office, long periods in a motor vehicle, farms, animal producers, manufacturing facilities, and/or at client/customers facilities. 

Positions in this class typically require typing, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. 

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.  

Schedule Requirements

This position is expected to work within core business hours and requires participation in after-hours and weekend calls, customer/client events & meetings, and industry events. 

Travel Requirements

The position requires domestic travel; approximately 50% travel time.
