Managing Ecological Economist
to help shape the direction of its economics projects.
Key Responsibilities
Leading economics workstreams and guiding and updating strategies to leverage economics and financial mechanisms to protect and restore natural ecosystems.
Managing and delivering economics projects, ensuring clear work plans are in place, deadlines are met, and risks are assessed.
Developing and managing budgets for economics projects, tracking expenditures, ensuring financial reporting meets funding requirements, keeping projects on budget and financially accountable, and authorising project expenses.
Proactively seeking new opportunities to expand Lifescape’s economics work internationally, including identifying funding sources, leading bids, and establishing partnerships and collaborations.
Managing team members, taking responsibility for their line management, pastoral care, and annual reviews.
Managing project and economics-related external communications.
Sitting on the Management Team as a senior member of the charity to support the CEO in strategy development, external and internal communications, HR, and organisational planning.
Keeping up to date with relevant policy, guidance and best practice relating to topics such as nature finance, rewilding economics, natural capital, ecosystem services and environmental valuation.
Skills and Experience
A relevant degree (e.g. Ecological/Environmental Economics).
Experience managing skilled teams on ecological economics or nature finance projects in the public or private sector.
Proven project management skills and experience.
Excellent research and report-writing skills, including, for example, the development of literature reviews.
Familiarity with environmental and ecological economics approaches.
Experience working with diverse stakeholders.
Excellent communication skills.
The ability to lead, collaborate and adapt.
Strong numerical and analytical skills and the aptitude to understand and communicate complex technical information, including Excel-based quantitative analysis.
A commitment to non-profit/public interest advocacy for nature.
