Project Overview

Our client is a fast-paced startup that provides advanced solutions to detect and mitigate digital threats, including disinformation, for brands, Fortune 1000 organizations, and government entities. They leverage proprietary platforms combined with cutting-edge data science, machine learning, and open-source intelligence to enable real-time, informed decision-making. As a Data Scientist on the team, the candidate will play a leadership role in driving innovative frameworks and technologies to enhance the client’s capabilities. The role will involve working with technologies like Allures, Ray for APIs, Python, OpenAI’s LLMs, Langchain, and MLflow to create scalable, efficient, and impactful solutions. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in these areas, with a focus on building systems that empower organizations to combat digital threats effectively. Role Overview

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will lead the design and prototyping of data models that enable actionable business insights, working closely with engineering and product teams to inform Alethea’s next-generation detection and response platforms.

You will serve as a bridge between analytical insights and scalable AI/ML frameworks, ensuring our models and tools drive measurable impact for our clients.


Key Responsibilities
Data Analysis & Modeling
  • Lead data exploration efforts and conduct advanced statistical and machine learning analysis on large, complex datasets.
     
  • Prototype and validate machine learning models (e.g., classification, anomaly detection, clustering) aligned with business needs and client scenarios.
     
  • Identify data trends, gaps, and patterns to drive investigative insights and reporting.
     
AI/ML Integration & Collaboration
  • Work with Fullstack ML and Data Engineers to transition prototypes into scalable systems using LangChain, Ray APIs, and MLflow.
     
  • Contribute to the design of pipelines that utilize OpenAI LLMs for content generation, summarization, and classification tasks.
     
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and threat intelligence teams to develop and refine data products.
     
Reporting & Visualization
  • Build dashboards, reports, and analytical tools to communicate findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
     
  • Support customer-facing teams with data-driven storytelling and reports.
     


Technical Stack
  • Programming & Libraries: Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, Ray)
     
  • AI/ML Frameworks: OpenAI (LLM integration), LangChain (for frameworks & pipelines), MLflow (for model lifecycle management)
     
  • Visualization: Matplotlib, Plotly, and dashboarding tools
     
  • Data Engineering: SQL, distributed data processing tools
     


Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or analytics, with the past 3+ years focused on data science
     
  • Experience working remotely with cross-functional teams across product, engineering, and data domains.
     
  • Strong expertise in prototyping, validating, and interpreting machine learning models.
     
  • Demonstrated experience working with LLM ecosystems and integrating AI into decision support systems is highly preferred.
     
  • C1+ proficiency in English
     
  • Based in LATAM (Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia)


Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence or equivalent

    Format: Virtual discussion with our recruiter to address any initial questions and go over the job details.
     
  3. Round 1: AI Team Interview
    Duration: 1 hour
    Format: Virtual interview with a senior member of our AI team, focusing on technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
     
  4. Round 2: Principal Engineering Team Interview
    Duration: 1 hour
    Format: Virtual interview with a principal member (VP of Engineering, CTO, or CEO) of our engineering team, diving deeper into your technical abilities, experience, and alignment with our team culture.
     
  5. Hiring Manager Interview
    Duration: 15-30 minutes
    Format: Virtual interview with the hiring manager to discuss the role in more detail, evaluate cultural fit, and review your experience.
     
  6. Client Interview
    Duration: 30 minutes
    Format: Virtual interview with a client representative to assess how your skills and experience align with the client’s needs and expectations.
