Senior Policy Advisor, Clean Energy Transition, India (Remote)
E3G is looking for a new role to support engagements with Indian and international stakeholders, helping to advance international cooperation on just and low-carbon energy transitions in India. Applicants based in Delhi or elsewhere in India will be preferred.

E3G is seeking a new role to deepen its work on energy transition in India. The role holder will join the Fossil Fuel Transition Team and work closely with E3G colleagues to analyse and develop just and low-carbon energy transition strategies for India. They will engage with diplomatic actors, multilateral development organisations, national and sub-national governments, and civil society networks, including through E3G’s work supporting diplomatic alliances such as the Energy Transition Council.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic insight and thought leadership regarding India’s energy transition and clean energy finance challenges, working through networks, information exchange, data analysis and horizon scanning.
- Lead E3G’s research, stakeholder engagement, and communications work, and implementing strategies on accelerating India’s transition to clean energy working with the team and the Programme Leader (based in Mumbai).
- Liaise with civil society, policy makers, business and government stakeholders, and multilateral actors active on India’s energy transition, and represent E3G publicly on India energy transition issues.
- Produce internal and external communications material and tailored briefings on recent data and analysis, disseminating these to relevant stakeholders, particularly in support of key bilateral and multilateral events.
- Expand E3G’s relationships and networks to relevant institutions and stakeholders.
- Work effectively with E3G colleagues to ensure insights on India’s energy transition are incorporated into wider climate initiatives – including through organisation of and participation in stakeholder dialogues, workshops, media and other platforms.
- Represent E3G externally, including through participating in various meetings, conferences and other events as needed.
Person description
- At least 8 years of relevant professional experience and a track record of activity in international energy policy, broader foreign policy, energy finance or a related field.
- A post-graduate degree in relevant discipline (e.g., economics, politics, international relations, environmental science, geography) necessary.
- Excellent strategic understanding of India’s climate and energy policies, India’s engagement on multilateral fora, and its interplay with the broader geopolitics, trade and financial aspects of energy transition.
- Expertise in political economy of energy transitions and knowledge of India’s power sector is important.
- Knowledge of green finance ecosystem in India and/or India’s trade policies in India appreciated.
- Strong personal networks in India at relevant expert, diplomatic, NGO, and governmental levels.
- Able to operate confidently at expert level in an international context, with an ability to engage senior decision-makers from government, business, finance and civil society.
- Excellent networking, analytical, writing and presentational skills – able to distil information from a range of sources, develop strategic messages and convey convincingly to key audiences, both in writing and verbally.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, able to work effectively as part of an international team as well as independently
- Excellent written and spoken English and spoken Hindi are languages necessary. Ability to speak other native Indian languages desirable.

- Initial 12-month contract, with possibility of renewal.
- Some domestic and international travel expected

- Salary range is dependent on experience and location.
E3G is unable to provide relocation assistance to candidates who would need to change locations in order to take up this position. E3G will require candidates to demonstrate that they have the right to live and work in India.
