NVA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced paralegal to join our Pet Resort Legal team.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in litigation support, employment law, and legal research, preferably with a background in either an in-house legal department or at a large law firm. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple tasks efficiently and maintain a high standard of work quality.
Key Responsibilities
Litigation Support:
Assist in the preparation and filing of legal documents, including pleadings, motions, affidavits, and settlement agreements.
Provide support for employment-related litigation and administrative proceedings.
Coordinate and manage discovery processes, including document collection, review, and production.
Analyze and respond to subpoenas and other legal requests.
Prepare for depositions and hearings by organizing documents and witness materials.
Legal Research and Analysis
Conduct thorough legal research using various legal databases and resources.
Analyze statutes, regulations, and rulings to provide legal support.
Internal and External Coordination:
Respond to inquiries and requests from internal stakeholders, including field operators and other departments.
Liaise with outside counsel, vendors, and other external parties involved in litigation and legal matters.
Assist with reporting of claims to insurance carriers as needed.
Organize internal documents and coordinate signatures.
Experience to assist in one or more of the following areas:
Employment
Assist in the drafting, preparation, and proofing of employment agreements, separation agreements, and releases.
Research relevant statutes, rulings, and regulations to field employment questions and inform SOPs/policies.
Corporate
Assist with the submission and monitoring of regulatory filings such as DBAs, foreign qualifications, and annual reports.
Provide administrative support for documents and activities related to corporate structure - mergers, formations, and dissolutions.
Assist with review, analysis, and drafting of various commercial contracts.
Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested.
Real Estate
Prepare the first draft of lease amendments, renewals, and assignments; abstract new leases.
Review and revise license agreements, estoppel certificates, SNDAs, rent commencement certificates, due diligence approval letters, memoranda of lease, easements, construction, and closing documents.
Required Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate’s degree.
Minimum of five years of paralegal experience.
Excellent writing and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Sound judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
A positive attitude and genuine desire to be a team player willing to assist with various projects and tasks within the Legal Department.
Experience in handling a broad range of litigation matters.
Proven ability to work independently and successfully set up, handle, and manage a caseload and/or multiple assignments.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other applications.
A commitment to excellence and high-quality work standards.
Not Required, But Strongly Preferred
Completion of paralegal school/certification preferred.
In-house paralegal experience, particularly related to employment law, is strongly preferred.
Able to work Mountain or Pacific time zone hours
Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 pending applicable experience. The position also comes with the opportunity to earn a 10% annual bonus.
