About The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Installation Design Lead to oversee the quality and efficiency of our site survey and design processes. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring that all installations are accurately scoped, designed to the highest standards, and ready for a seamless execution by our install partners.
You will manage quality audits of site surveys, validate scopes of work, oversee design deliverables, and ensure consistent adherence to our technical and aesthetic standards with full self sufficiency. You will work cross-functionally with our design vendors, installer network, and internal Field Quality Engineering team to drive high-quality outcomes and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
Audit and Assure Quality: Lead quality audits of site surveys and scopes of work to ensure every project meets Haven's engineering and VPP-readiness standards.
Manage Design Throughput: Manage with design vendors to manage throughput, quality, and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).\
Maintain Engineering Standards: Own the maintenance and evolution of Haven's design and engineering standards in alignment with our install partners and internal stakeholders.
Optimize for Grid Readiness: Ensure designs enable advanced functionality for grid services, including Virtual Power Plants and Demand Response.
Promote Equitable Access: Design with accessibility in mind, ensuring workflows and standards support successful projects in LMI communities.
Drive Operational Efficiency: Track key metrics, identify performance bottlenecks, and lead improvement initiatives across the pre-installation pipeline.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Field Quality Engineer, operations, and product teams to implement continuous improvements and technical excellence.
Qualifications
3–5 years in residential solar or battery storage, ideally in system design, engineering, or quality management
Familiarity with design tools and platforms (e.g., Aurora Solar, Scanifly, CAD-based tools) and an understanding of NEC and interconnection standards
Experience managing third-party vendors or technical contractors
Strong attention to detail with an analytical and metrics-driven mindset
Passion for energy equity, VPPs, and a decarbonized, distributed grid
Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment
Bonus: Experience designing or managing projects for LMI incentives or utility DR programs
