We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Database Administrator to join our team. The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the management, maintenance, and optimization of the systems that support the Banner ERP system. This role involves ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the Oracle database environment, as well as supporting the deployment and ongoing administration of Banner ERP applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Oracle databases, a strong understanding of Banner ERP, extensive experience administering Linux systems and a commitment to delivering high-quality support to meet the needs of Boldyn Networks and its customers. 

This is a remote, work from home position.

What you’ll be doing: 

Database Administration: 

  • Install, configure, and maintain Oracle databases supporting applications such as the Banner ERP system, DegreeWorks, and ODS data warehouse. 

  • Monitor database performance and implement tuning procedures to ensure optimal performance. 

  • Perform regular database backups and recovery procedures. 

  • Ensure database integrity, security, and availability. 

  • Apply patches, upgrades, and maintenance packs as needed to keep the database environment up to date. 

Banner ERP Support: 

  • Work closely with the ERP application team to support systems that make up Banner and related applications.  

  • Install, configure, and maintain Banner modules, including Student, Finance, HR, Financial Aid and others. 

  • Manage database objects, including tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures, to support Banner ERP operations. 

  • Assist with the deployment of new Banner ERP features and modules, ensuring database compatibility and performance. 

Performance Monitoring and Optimization: 

  • Implement and monitor database performance metrics, identifying and resolving performance issues proactively. 

  • Optimize database queries and indexing strategies to improve application performance. 

Security and Compliance: 

  • Ensure that database systems comply with organizational security policies and standards. 

  • Implement and manage database security protocols, including user access controls, encryption, and auditing. 

  • Assist in audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to data management and protection. 

Disaster Recovery: 

  • Develop, implement, and test disaster recovery plans for the Banner environment with an emphasis on Oracle database systems. 

  • Ensure that backup and recovery processes are in place and functioning correctly. 

Collaboration and Support: 

  • Collaborate with IT teams, including network, systems, and application administrators, to ensure seamless integration and operation of the Banner ERP system. 

  • Provide support for Banner and related application issues, responding to incidents and troubleshooting problems as they arise. 

  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed. 

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with specific experience supporting the Banner ERP system. 

  • Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery strategies. 

  • Experience with Oracle ASM, and Data Guard is preferred. 

  • Experience with PL/SQL programming and database automation. 

  • Experience administering java applications including Tomcat web servers.
