Job description

Build the autonomous workforce of the future.

Location: Remote (EU timezone preferred)

Compensation: Competitive salary + generous equity (ESOP)

Stage: $3M+ ARR, pre-Series A, bootstrapped, launched MVP May 2023, platform Jan 2024

About FifthRow

FifthRow is automating the work consultants do — and putting that power in the hands of enterprise teams. Our platform replaces expensive, manual research and strategy projects with autonomous agents that deliver the same results in days instead of months. Imagine the firepower of a McKinsey team — always on, always available, and always improving.

Our Platform Enables Customers To

  • Spin up custom research agents and workflows
  • Analyze unstructured data (web, PDFs, conversations)
  • Generate strategic outputs: memos, decks, summaries, forecasts
  • Operate entire innovation, diligence, and strategy workflows

We’re already working with global enterprises to automate use cases like investment memos, innovation scouting, market entry strategy, LP reports, and more — all using agent workflows that orchestrate LLMs, tools, and business logic.

What You’ll Build

As CTO, you’ll own the vision and execution of our platform — turning FifthRow into the core operating system for enterprise knowledge work.

The Product Includes

  • A Flow builder – autogeneration of agent chains and instructions within them
  • Real-time agent orchestration, with memory, context routing, and judgment
  • A suite of Apps that handle repeatable, high-value workflows (e.g., regulatory tracking, venture research)
  • Outputs that integrate with email, PowerPoint, PDFs, internal systems, and customer CRMs

Under the hood, we use Next.js, Python, LangChain, OpenAI, AWS (SQS), and PGVector — but we’re open to better ideas and faster ways of scaling.

Your Role

We’ve built 0→1. You’ll lead the platform to 100.

You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Technical Strategy
    • Own architecture, system design, and product-technical alignment
    • Evaluate build vs. buy for key infrastructure: retrieval, memory, search, agents, observability
  • Platform & AI Infrastructure
    • Lead development of our workflow engine, orchestration layer, and integrations
    • Improve modularity, reliability, and performance of agent runs at scale
    • Build integrations with enterprise systems (CRMs, data sources, endpoints)
  • Scalability & Reliability
    • Ensure robustness of parallel agent execution and human-in-the-loop interactions
    • Secure architecture for compliance (SOC2), data retention, audit logs, etc.
  • Team Building
    • Hire and lead a high-performing engineering team across AI, infra, and product
    • Establish dev processes, CI/CD, observability, and internal velocity metrics
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work with the founder and product team to define and ship what matters
    • Occasionally interface with customers and prospects for feedback or high-priority engagements
  • Product development
    • Create user stories based on product vision
    • Prioritize along with the product and customer success team
    • Lead the refinement and other development-related meetings
    • Own timelines and releases
You Should Have

  • Experience scaling a platform from 0→1 and 1→100 — architecting and executing as the product grows
  • Background in leading cross-functional engineering teams, including platform, infra, and ML/AI
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern web and AI stacks — especially:
    • Next.js / React
    • LangChain or similar LLM orchestration tools
    • OpenAI APIs and fine-tuning strategies
    • Postgres + Vector DBs (PGVector ideal)
    • AWS (especially SQS, Lambda, CloudWatch, etc.)
  • A strong product sense — you think in terms of user workflows, not just features Comfort balancing speed and quality in fast-paced startup environments
Bonus Points

  • Experience with agentic architectures, prompt chaining, or multi-agent orchestration
  • Built internal tools, no-code platforms, or developer-facing products
  • Experience integrating into customer systems and workflows (e.g. Salesforce, Snowflake, internal APIs)
  • Background in enterprise software with security/compliance needs
  • You’ve worked in or around strategy consulting or enterprise R&D environments

Why This Role?

  • Massive market — Enterprise consulting and research is a $200B+ industry, and it’s ripe for automation.
  • Clear product-market fit — We’re revenue-generating, profitable, and growing fast with Fortune 500 logos.
  • Real impact — You’ll define how enterprise work gets done in the AI era.
  • Founding tech role — You’ll shape the team, culture, and stack from here forward.
  • Backed by experience — The founder has launched 100+ ventures and scaled multiple profitable businesses.
