GE Appliances is seeking a Senior Area Sales Manager (ASM) to drive growth across assigned contract and builder accounts in the Chicago Metro area and surrounding markets. In this high-impact, field-based role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the customer experience—including sales performance, service delivery, and channel development—across multiple segments such as Single Family, Multi-Family, Authorized Builder Distributors, and Apartment Replacement Distributors. The ideal candidate brings strong sales acumen, strategic thinking, and a customer-first mindset.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Drive sales of GE Appliances' products by identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with builders, developers, distributors, and other key decision-makers in the assigned territory.
Deliver on sales and margin objectives outlined in the annual operating plan.
Prospect and convert new business opportunities while managing and expanding existing accounts.
Apply solution-based selling techniques to understand customer needs and deliver tailored product and service solutions.
Monitor competitive activity, analyze market trends, and develop actionable insights to increase market share.
Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure consistent product delivery and customer satisfaction.
Conduct in-field sales training and education for distribution and builder partners.
Perform necessary administrative duties including sales reporting, CRM updates, and compliance documentation.
Proactively cold call prospective accounts to generate and grow new business.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field sales/industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience, or completion of the GE Appliances Commercial Development Program.
Must reside in the Chicago Metro area or surrounding region.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to influence decision-makers.
Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing sales opportunities.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
High level of initiative, independence, and self-motivation.
Proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience developing and executing territory-level sales plans aligned with strategic business goals.
Background in B2B sales, ideally in wholesale, building, or construction-related industries.
2+ years of appliance sales experience preferred.
Experience with cold calling and converting prospects into active accounts.
WORKING CONDITIONS & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
This is a remote, field-based position. Must maintain a home office setup.
Requires up to 60% travel, primarily within the region, including customer site visits, trade events, and internal meetings.
Must be flexible to work outside standard hours based on customer and business demands (Central Time Zone hours).
GE Appliances offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package, including 401(k), medical, dental, and vision healthcare plans, as well as paid vacation. The base salary range for this role is $72,700.00 - $130,900.00. Your actual salary will be determined based on your experience, skills, and alignment with the role's requirements and responsibilities.
