Job Description

As a Systems Administration Team Lead, you will manage the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support core business and organizational functions. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing all assigned networked software and associated operating systems, database subsystems and Enterprise Applications, as well as supervising and developing IT engineers. Identify, communicate and resolve issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

What you will do:

  • Work with executive team members and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals and to identify and resolve business systems issues related to Technical Architecture Domains.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems. 
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware and other applications.
  • Recommend monitoring and management tools to track application availability. Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems. Provide training to end-users for all modified and new systems. Create and maintain documentation of system configuration, mapping, processes and service records. Research software and systems products.
  • Operations Monitoring/Systems Administration Support: Gauge effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies to improve or further leverage these systems.
  • Work with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems. Ensure compatibility and interoperability of in-house systems. Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
  • Resource Management: Supervise a team of System Administrators. Orient, train, and assign work; evaluate performance; approve time requests; resolve complaints/conflicts; discipline employees; develop and motivate staff by mentoring and providing career coaching.
  • Recommend system backup and other recovery procedures in accordance with QAD’s disaster recovery and business continuity strategies. 
  • Manage, monitor, and support enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., AWS)
  • Manage incident response and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues.

 

 

Qualifications
  • Education/Licenses: 4-year college or university degree in computer science or software engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 4 to 5 years of experience with team/project management, systems planning, security principles, software troubleshooting, and general software management best practices.
  • Experience in AWS infrastructure

Computer skills:

  • Working knowledge of software protocols and Internet standards, including TCP/IP, VPN, Client/Server, and Services Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Application support experience to assist with application availability analysis, performance, and tuning of key applications.
  • Working knowledge of modern Linux and Windows Server OS versions.

Other knowledge or skills:

  • Knowledge of data privacy practices. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language. Self-motivated and directed, keen attention to detail, and customer service orientation. 
  • Project management, research, analytical, and creative problem-solving abilities. Understands and supports diversity; able to establish an effective team.
  • A natural leader who has mentoring skills.
