Job description

Our client is seeking a highly skilled SAP S4HANA ABAP Developer with expertise in Workflow Administration.

Start Date: January 20, 2025

End Date: July 18, 2025 extension potential good

Location: Calgary/Remote

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining custom workflows and ABAP programs within the SAP environment.

This role will focus on optimizing and automating business processes across various SAP modules using SAP Workflow functionality. You will collaborate with functional teams to integrate workflows with SAP standard processes, ensuring smooth workflow management and process automation.Should have good experience in workflow development involving complex designs using deadline monitoring-auto escalations, repetitive reminders dynamic work item creation and workflow administration, troubleshooting and building workflow Governance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline or graduate from a top boot camp program
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in SAP ABAP development, with at least 2 years of hands-on experience in SAP Workflow administration and development.
  • Experience with SAP Workflow configuration, including workflow builder, workflow template creation, event linkage, and task management.
  • Proficiency in ABAP programming, including reports, modules, function modules, BAPIs, and user exits.
  • Experience with SAP Business Workflow tools, including Workflow Builder, Business Workplace, and event management.
  • Experience with SAP NetWeaver, IDOC, and RFC protocols.

Familiarity with SAP GUI and web-based workflows.

  • Experience in debugging and troubleshooting ABAP and Workflow-related issues.
  • Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana, SAP Fiori, and UI5.
  • SAP certification in ABAP or SAP Workflow is a plus.

R&R

Define and Support Global Workflow Architecture and Related S/4 HANA Development Standards:

  • Establish a clear architecture for workflows, including both standard and custom workflows.
  • Develop and document standards for workflow development, ensuring they align with overall S/4 HANA best practices.

Setup Guidelines For Utilization Of Standard And Custom Workflows

  • Create detailed guidelines for when and how to use standard workflows versus custom workflows.
  • Include examples and best practices to help users understand the appropriate use cases.

Analyze Logs And Identify Potential Workflow-Related Issues

  • Implement logging mechanisms to capture detailed workflow execution data.
  • Regularly review logs to identify patterns or recurring issues.
  • Use this data to proactively address potential problems and optimize workflows.

Monitor And Coordinate All S/4 Error Workflows

  • Set up monitoring tools to track the status of all workflows, especially those that encounter errors.
  • Develop a process for quickly addressing and resolving workflow errors, including escalation procedures.

Establish An Administration RACI Framework

  • Define roles and responsibilities for all aspects of workflow management using the RACI model (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed).
  • Ensure that all stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities within the workflow framework.
  • Monitoring, diagnosing, and resolving workflow issues to minimize disruptions.
  • Adhering to guidelines to reduce human error, ensuring accurate data and consistent quality.
  • Generating performance reports to identify improvement areas and support informed decision-making.
  • Adjusting parameters like notifications, deadlines, and escalation rules to meet specific business needs.
  • Implementing Workflow Archiving to reduce database memory load.

Must have Work Authorization for Canada or the USA.
