By proactively working with the team to improve performance across smart meters you will be directly positively impacting our customers and their ability to track their energy usage, in turn helping them use less energy.
This role in a nutshell:
This role sits within the Smart Metering business unit working within the Smart, Revenue Assurance and PAYG Back Office Analytics team. The role focuses on supporting the Performance and Data Insights team to report on and monitor Smart meter performance across a variety of metrics.
The purpose of this role is to provide data analysis to understand our performance, highlight areas to focus on, as well as building reporting to monitor the performance. You will support in maintaining a backlog of work, and prioritising areas dependent on the demands of stakeholders.
This role will also play a vital part in the development and refinement of user stories, analysis of the outcomes from changes, validation of data and supporting the migration of data.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Provide insightful data analysis to help define user stories and their acceptance criteria
- Work with third parties and internal stakeholders to review changes and understand the impact of changes on any in-flight projects;
- Monitor project performance regularly and generate reports;
- Act as a center of knowledge for Smart and PAYG to support with insight and development of solutions both within the Smart/RA/PAYG teams, with other internal stakeholders and third party providers.
You’ll be a successful Smart Metering Data Analyst at OVO if you…
- Good working knowledge of key MI tools including BigQuery, Tableau & Looker studio, Github & Dataform
- Can confidently write SQL code to extract data in various formats
- Good working knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets
- Confidence in building and communicating significant data visualisations
- An ability to use data to make informed decisions and recommendations
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Confident in problem solving and collaborating with different organisations
- Excellent analytical skills
- Understanding of agile methods
Ideally you will have…
- An understanding of smart metering systems for SMETS2 (DCC, Adapters etc.)
- An understanding of PAYG
- A strong understanding of software development and system automation
- Experience working with complex systems\ large numerical datasets and full life cycle experience
- 1+ years experience similar data or analytical role

We’ll pay you between £30,000 and £41,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
