What is The Role
We are looking for a talented software engineer who can work collaboratively in a distributed environment. We hire low-ego engineers who know how to strike a balance between speed of delivery and maintainability. We love engineers who can engage in product discussions and aren't afraid to contribute ideas and critique features.
The Search Experiences team is responsible for exposing Search features in Kibana as well as being in touch with the developer community, writing blog posts and creating sample applications that developers use as the starting point for integrating Elasticsearch into their applications. They design and build onboarding flows, guide users towards best practices for Elasticsearch features, and ensure the frontend and backend TypeScript code the Search org delivers is of the highest quality. Software engineers on this team work closely with the Search Relevance, Search Inference and Elasticsearch Search teams to add features that make search more relevant. The team is currently composed of 5 full-stack engineers, who contribute primarily to Kibana and several Javascript and Typescript code packages, but can work all over the stack.

What You Will Be Doing
- You will be building product enhancements for search components with contributions to Kibana, Search UI and other Elastic-maintained packages.
- You will collaborate with teammates in a mostly text-based, asynchronous, remote-first team environment with occasional video calls and yearly conferences.
- You’ll be hands-on with the team and codebase, reviewing work and providing constructive feedback.
- You will collaborate with the team on features, helping break them down into technical deliverables. You’ll act as an important and communicative part of an engaged and spirited team.

- Experience building full-stack software using TypeScript and Javascript, ideally in React.

- Measured and clear written and spoken communication skills. You work well with others and can craft concise and expressive thoughts into correspondence: issues, investigations, documentation and onboarding material.
